Title: Vancouver Island Trip
Post by: Shannon on August 13, 2009, 10:41:51 PM
We just got back from our annual Tofino fishing trip. Here is a pic of our best day. We limited both days but this day was the best.

Nice catch, my uncle just got back from Nootka, they've had a good season there this year as well. They brought back 7 springs to 29# and six coho, caught a couple dozen wild coho also.

Nice haul!  Looks like you are around the Blue Heron at the Weigh West Marine Resort.  Tofino is always a great place to trip to.

Are those two between the salmon and halibut sablefish?

Ling Cod. Average Sablefish is 5-6 lbs and darker, caudal fins are different, much narrower and overall darker in color than a ling.

We go with a guide. I have taken a boat up there but found it the same price as using a guide and a whole lot easier on us. The ferry ride, moorage, gear for the trip, gas, boat stuff purchases before the trip all add up to close to using a guide. Here is our first day of fishing. The guide is the best I have fished with. His name is Bobby Kimoto of Bobby Kimoto Charters. Tell him I recommended him if anyone calls him.
