Title: Moultrie I-45
Post by: scott63 on August 16, 2009, 03:50:21 PM
Has anyone used one of these? I have a friend who is looking for an over the counter IR cam that won't be seen by trespassers( no glowing LED's). I'm ontly just starting to get into building IR cams so I don't have anything he can use. I know he would love the size of the Bushnell Trophy Cam, but my understanding is that the IR array glows red...............Scott

I think all the IR models will have a similar red glow, which is very faint.

I have been waiting all Summer to get this camera!! I heard many great things from a Moultrie tech. I had sent in my 5.0 to get fixed after it's 100th time being mauled by bears and the technician working on it told me this new camera was going to take the industry by storm!!! I was planing at the time to just get another 5.0 like the one I have, but he convinced me to wait till this one came out this month!!!

And from what the Tech told me is, there is a removable black screen that can be taken on and off of the IR flash rendering it 100% invisible!!

FYI my camera was so badly beaten up I guess, that Moultrie sent me a brand new one for 0.00!!! that kind of customere care is well "above and beyond" !!

That is great customer service! You might try getting some 1/4 inch plywood cut into 12 inch by 12 inch squares and driving a hole bunch of 2 inch nails through them. Use them as a bear doormat in front of your cams and it should cut down on the cam damage...........Scott

Man I had that camera in a Bear box, and one of those little buggers still managed to get a claw through the IR sensor and ripped it a little! all the other screens and displays were damaged as well but kept on ticking!! guess that's why Moultrie just sent me a new one instead of  bandaging a hundred boo boos??

I have seen a few of the members "nail and screw" boxes, and tho they look afective, I'm not throwing one of those in my pack and hiking 6 miles!! :yike: :bdid:
