I am just getting into reloading and an older friend of the family gave me some hodgdon h870 powder. i know it is a slow burning powder but i can't find any data for it in any of the reloading books i have. i am reloading for a 300 win mag is this powder even worth working up a load for? i have 5 lbs of it.

It's too slow for the 300 win. Hodgdon stoped makeing H-870, it was my goto powder in the 338-378 with 250gr'ers

Thanks. i guess for free it doesn't hurt to have it laying around. now i will have to get a big cannon so i can do some reloading with it.

How much did he give you? Want to sell it?

Jamie,
What make is that 338? My father in law has one in WB Accu, and we cannot get that thing to shoot for the life of us.
