Title: Change of Plans...
Post by: Dave8pt on August 18, 2009, 08:43:08 PM: Folks, need some help. I was planning on living in the mountains of W. Washington for about six days in mid September with the hopes of finally baggin' an elk. Well, work has gotten in the way and there will be NO way that I'll be able to spend more than a day in the woods, if even that. I know where elk are in the high country, but if anyone had some suggestions on day hunts, it would be much appreciated...not looking for anyone's honey hole, just need some help finding a place that wouldn't require me to hike half a day to hunt. WORK SUCKS!!

Kinda bums me out though...I'v been shooting my bow every day and puttin' a lot of miles on the boots and now it feels like it's for nothin'. Again, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hit the coast, anywhere from Long Beach up to the Olympic peninsula...pick a drainage, hike in, call in a bull, shoot him, pack him out, drive home. It can be done in a day. Here's proof. A one-day bowhunt into a new area, 8 miles behind a gate.

I might just do this. My Girlfriends parents live in Montesano so I've got a place to crash if I want to. Gives me hope!

You guys have got to plan these things better. I have a cousin and friend who hunts get married in Oct. They are screwed.. :chuckle: :bash:

Wow! called, killed, cleaned, quartered and packed out 8 miles in a day. Must have had some help. I guess you could have boned it out and hauled it all in one trip yourself. That would be over 300 pounds of meat if you boned him out respectibaly. You da man!
