How long does the run last in the Skok? Thinking about giving it another try this weekend. :bash: COMBAT
-
The kings will be in for a while but it may be tougher to find a bright one unless you are fishing close to the salt. Silvers should start showing up soon too but the early run of silvers don't bite very well. :twocents:

I was thinking about trying the Skok tomarrow or the next day are there any new fish of is the run over? Any idea of the conditions at Hoodsport.
-
I'm sure there are still quite a few fish in the skok. I was still catching bright fish on the 24th last year.
-
I was at Hoodsport yesterday (and will be today) and the tribe is netting very aggressively up there. The nets are 10 feet apart and run for a couple hundred yards in each direction of the hatchery to a couple miles south.
-
No nets today. :dunno:

I just heard on the news environmentalists along with an oyster company are having issues with the high content of human feces contaminating the river. The finger is being pointed at the high volume bank fisherman that are crapping in and along the river banks. Witnesses say the "evidence" is all over the place. Mmmmmm...yummy. Makes me want to go eat an oyster. Oh, they say seagull poo is a contributor also since the numbers are so high from feeding on salmon carcasses left behind by fisherman.

So, hows the run doing? I think I'll try the afternoon high tide on Saturday.
-
I took a friend and my two older kids up to the Skok and Hoodsport today. I was extremely disappointed. We saw 4 fish hooked and three landed on the river and nothing at Hoodsport. At about 6 p.m. we checked back at Hoodsport and there were 3 king that had been taken but everyone was just sitting around. I was told that all the fish seemed to be holding in the tide waters by the construction but again didn't spend a whole lot of time there watching.
It has been a couple of years since I fished the Skok but I was also disappointed in the number of fish I saw in the river. Where I remember seeing 20-25 I now see only 5-10.
Maybee I'll try again later.

Hear anything at hunter farm?

It's getting to be the tail end of the Scoke king run. Normally by the end of August it's peters out and the early silvers will start to show.
Should have fished the scoke about 2 weeks ago. Rumors have it that it was a very good run. I don't fish it but I gave a buddy some eggs to test for me. He did very well!!
It's time to look at fishing other rivers, ;) I'm getting ready to leave and see if I can get my first silver for the year. Damn I hate beening stuck to fishn' from the bank!! I need my boat. NOW!!!! >:( :bash: :bash:

fishing was *censored*ty this season because of the total lack of water. river's running at 1/3 the level it was last year at this time. the fish were in, but were not biting.
also, the spot i've been fishing the last couple seasons just absolutely got hammered by snaggers. didn't used to be so bad in the far lower river below the farms.

I heard from Lyle that it is the new snagger hotspot....too bad as we had some good days there.
