Dear Jerrod:
Thank you for inquiring about the legality of your Shuttle T-Lock and Terminal T-Lock broadheads for hunting big game in Washington State.
The broadhead rules adopted by our state’s fish and wildlife commission require a cutting diameter no less than seven-eighths inch wide, a blade completely closed at the back end of the blade by a smooth, unbroken surface starting at the maximum blade width forming a smooth line toward the feather end of the shaft, and such line not angling towards the point. Based on the pictures you provided it appears that your broadheads meet all of our described criteria.
Please feel free to share a copy of this letter with your vendors and anybody else who may have questions about the legality of these broadheads for hunting big game in Washington State.
Sincerely,
Mik Mikitik

-
why were they in question? :dunno:
-
Probably the rear of the broadhead's angle :dunno: They looked legal to me as well.
-
Some one had posted on two accounts that they were not legal in Washington and that the WDFW is who said they were not. It's been a bit of an issue for some and now it's all cleared up.
-
are those broadheads that cool anyways? How bout something that works good like a lumenock or something. I want to use those.
-
:yeah:
-
trolls
-
This is just to say that they are legal and you can use them if you so choose to. They are a good broadhead. Yes the lumenock would be nice to use as well.
-
How about some explosive broadheads?
-
yeah an infrared heat seeking explosive broadhead. i want one bad.
-
lol..those might be kinda spendy
-
Titan -1 thanks for clearing that up i wont fell so bad when my shuttle T goes through a big bulls ribs. :)
-
I like my Slick Tricks, but may switch next year to the Shuttle T's after talking with Titan about some of his personal tests.
-
The explosion tips worked 4 arnold :)
And Rambo!
-
Nothing like a 700000 grain broadhead! I bet those explosive tip arrows had good downrange kinetic energy, too. I wonder what the spine was on his arrows? What was really amazing is that Rambo could screw those onto an arrow and they would fly just like his regular broadheads. I really need to get some of those things...
-
i wonder why Mik told a few people they are illegal and now that they are legal? :bash:
-
There is a whole thread as to why that occurred having to do with the back of the broadhead sloping towards the feathered end of the arrow. Easy to misinterpret. The Shuttle Ts (and the Strikers) have a slight slope toward the back of the arrow, making them legal. You actually have to take the blade out and put it against something that is a right angle to see it. They are like 88 or 89 degrees instead of 90 degrees.

Has any one been shoting tlocks with 300 fmjs ? . I've had a bit of planeing issues with mine , in the past I,ve just scewed and shot . I'm useing blazer four fletch and 100 grain tlocks . they seem to fly better when i set one blade up. Thanks Coach
-
I took last years bull and this years bull with the T-Locks. Both went about 25 yards before pilling up. One was a heart shot the other was a lung. Great broadheads in my opinion.
-
Im gonna piggy back not thread jack...
Im concerned that my great for deer thunder head's arent made for elk!
Sooo, thinking of a switch...
2 choices....
Shuttle T-Locks or Slick Tricks...
pros and cons?
which is better?
-
I love my Slick Tricks! The buck (250 lbs+) I shot last year at 35 yards, the arrow went completely through busting ribs on both sides and buried 8" into the ground. Gaping holes on both sides and he piled up in less than 10 yards. I like them much better than the Thunderheads that I have been shooting for years. I have not tried them on elk yet, but I would imagine that they would do great. Haven't tried Shuttle T's but I see no need when the Slick Tricks do so well and fly like darts even while practicing out to 90 yards.
-
Im kinda leaning toward slick tricks because they are CHEAP but get great reviews and man are they thick...which should equal strong...
90 yards huh...wow
what bow/weight/arrow/stiffness/grain heads?
I shoot a guardian set at 78lbs with 400g FMJ's and plan to use 125's!
-
I like my slick tricks and I have seen some monster holes in critters from them.
That being said, Thunderheads are great for elk. I know quite a few guys that have killed dozens of elk with them.
-
Not sure what issue but Eastmans did a penetration test with fixed-blade broad heads in Ballistic Gel, Easton Axis 400 w 28" shaft, 70# Mathews:
Shuttle T-Locks 12 1/2" Penetration
Montec 100gr G-5 11 15/16" Penetration.
They were the top two broadheads in the test. Keep in mind that a a gel test is just that, gel. It doesn't include hide or bones. So take it for what it's worth....I shoot the T-Locks.
-
Is this thing back? Awesome.
-
Well...
titan convinced me to try them on my pig trip in Georgia... shuttle T locks that is...
125 T locks on 28 inch 340 FMJ's with 4 inch shaft wraps and blazer quick spin fletchings...oh and red luminocs ;)
I killed 10 pigs...
smallest being around 20 lbs and biggest about 150lbs
distances from about 8 yards to 55 yards...give or take between me and my buddy
I broke several FMJ's and have all but decided to try to find an all carbon arrow that will meet the GPI required in WA...
that said,
Im AMAZED by the T-Locks...
absolutely could not be happier... not one blade to bent to use again (if wanted but never did)...
not one blade lost...before during or after the shot!
excellent cutting...strong as an anvil... these things were made to destroy elk bones!
Id 100% stand by Shuttle T Locks! ;)
glad Chris Titan turned me onto them!
only complaint might be I wish they had a 125 grain with a slightly bigger cutting diameter in t-locks...but small concession for what ya get from a work horse of a broadhead!
-
they are very good heads, i have shot them a lot but i still like my montecs a bit better. :twocents:
-
Ive shot the montecs and they are sexy but they arent nearly as strong in my experience...
-
lol i don't think they are sexy and they do make a little noise in flight. but i have shot many of beef shoulders brought home from the butcher" with diffrent broadheads and the montecs have always done just fine i would say the same as the shuttle t i would probably shoot the shuttle t but they shoot about 6" low and right from my field tips and my montec shoot the same hole as my field points and i like never having to touch my sights i have shot 2 elk and other than a small nick in the blade on one no problem x force at 343 fps at 83lbs eats them up and spits them out i am going to shoot the shuttle t's a bunch threw my trad bows this year because i have a multi tag and always hunt with a muzzle in th late season and if i shoot one early it has to be a toad and with my trad bow to burn a tag but i will probably end up hunting with my dead heads or maybe one of my hand knapped points who knows i like to mix it up.
-
lol
hey carp... my shuttle T locks fly just like my practice tips too... ;)
dont have the heart to tell ya I only shoot bh's...even for practice... i dont own but a few field points...Ill use those once season starts...
to keep the muscles strong I try to shoot 30-50 shots a day...about 10 will be at an extended range shot..30-40 yards...the rest will be on a second block target in my garage...so like 8 yards...the 30-40 yards shots are with my t-locks on...the garage shots are all strength and form shooting..less interested in arrow flight... so done with FT's...
but I know what ya mean...I know several people swear by G5 perfect match to FT's
-
you and me are a lot alike when it comes to how we practice i burn threw 1-2 broadhead targets a year because i shoot so much and about 70% of my practice is with my broadheads i only shoot field tips when i am in 3d target season they don't take to kindly to broadheads at 3d shoots :yike: :chuckle: seems like all bows shoot and like diffrent setups kinda like rifles and shotguns. and since i own 10 bows right now just sold 3 and bought another last week and looking to maybe get another off ebay tomarrow. :yike: i am a archery freack :chuckle:

Shuttle T's are good. A 100 gr one broke both ribs of the doe I shot at 62 yards last season.
But if you practice a lot with broadheads, like I did, the blades would come loose in the ferrel. Did seem to decrease accuracy for me.
I'll be shooting something else this upcoming season.
