This past weekend a buddy and I were up above Baker Lake going after bears. We were using a trail that hadn't been used in quite some time as ours were about the only boot prints going up. On the way up we stopped in several good looking areas to glass and try to call in a bear. After being out all morning we were getting hungry and decided to go to the truck and head to Concrete for some lunch. On the way out my buddy was looking down and noticed a big cat track (about as wide as our boots) inside his boot print from the way up. We kept our eyes open and there were several other cat tracks on our trail for a good distance. It was kind of hair raising knowing this cat saw us but we never knew it was there. Don't know if he came in on the call and figured us out or if he was following us and decided 2 people would be too much of a fight to handle. Either way kind of spooky. Anyone else have similar experiences?

Last year during an elk hunt in western Wa I had a similer experience. I hiked in real early somewhere between 3 and 4 am to get on a clearcut at first light. On my way out I noticed some cat prints inside my boot prints. Kinda scary!! A little further down the trail I noticed something even scarier Kitten prints following mommy. Not sure if they were just travelling or if I was about to be a hunting lesson.
