COEUR D'ALENE, ID -- The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is investigating the poaching of two bull elk near Priest Lake.
Regional manager Chip Corsi says the elk were killed by archery equipment on Sept. 5, the day before the opening of bow season in that unit.
The department says two Boundary County men are under investigation for the poaching and charges are pending.
The incident is the second report of elk poaching in the Idaho Panhandle this summer. In August, the carcass of a cow elk was found in the East Fork drainage of Hayden.
