Title: New Salmon Fishermen score bigtime on the Skagit River!
Post by: grandpawrichard on September 16, 2009, 11:25:29 PM
Film at Eleven! ;) :)

Lately the Pink Salmon have been running up the Skagit River near my home to spawn. That has given me the opportunity to fish a great deal and to pass my angling knowledge to new fishermen and women.

Here are some photos of a couple of those lucky people:

Brad Vale (my old Joe’s Outdoor Sports Field and Stream Department Manager and Boss) with his First Ever Salmon:

Here he is with his First Legal Limit of Pink Salmon:

This is my oldest Grand Daughter Sheryl Seholm with her First Ever Salmon:

A little while later in the morning she caught another nice Pink Salmon:

Then she caught a nice Buck Pink Salmon and while she was at it, she tipped her hat to the lure manufacturer; Miracle Lures:

Here’s a photo of a nice Pink Salmon that I released. It was also caught on a Miracle Lure:

Here’s a photo of the “old Pro” fisherman and a nice Skagit River Pink Salmon that I caught on a #4 Pink and White Miracle Lure:

In the past 2 weeks people in my boat (myself included) have Caught a limit of 4 fish per person per day, plus we have Released Unharmed well over 300 Pink Salmon. Each and Every One of them have been Caught on #4 Pink and White Miracle Lures!

Those little Miracle Lures work GREAT!

I have now been accepted to be their First Tackle Tester and Photographer. What a Great Job! I get to test out new lures, Go Fishing a Lot and then photograph Fishermen that have had luck with those lures. It can’t get much better than that!

They work Great for Silvers! I caught 4 silvers in the past two days on them. The last Silver I caught today on one completely swallowed it way down past the gills!

I also caught a 28" Steelhead Trout today on one of the Miracle Lures.

Two weeks ago I caught 3 Chinooks ranging in weight of 6 pounds, 17 pounds and 27 1/2 pounds all on Miracle Lures!

I am working with the company to get more colors of their lures. They are going to make Nickel, Brass, Nickel and Brass, Nickel and Green, Brass and Green, Nickel and Chartreuse, Brass and Chartreuse.

Yesterday I field tested a Proto-type Unweighted Spinner that looks very promising. The first time in the water a 6 1/2 pound Silver nailed it!

You sure can!

I'm not sure what stores are carrying them right now, but I got acquainted with them in the little store I work at: Morgan Creek Outfitters in downtown Sedro-Woolley, Wa.

We have been selling the heck out of them for a little over 3 weeks. Especially since I tried them out and started telling people about them!

I will get in touch with the Owner of the company and find out where you can get them.

In Fact, I have emailed him a copy of this thread. :)

Wow, very cool.  I will be looking for them down here in the Southern part of the state.

One color I would suggest is Black Chrome.   That color really works on Steelies for some reason.  And maybe a hammered nickel and brass.  I know everyone has their favorite color/design/whatever, but that hammered nickel and brass works exceptional on salmon.

Crome or nickle is a cheap cop out for real silver plate. See if you can get them to make some real silver ones!! I think you would be very happy with the results. It will cost more but guys like me that know the benafits of silver vs the other stuff would gladly pay it.

Great photos and keep up the good work. Sounds like you have a dream job!!

Bearhunter,

So sorry to say, but I do not have any photos of the Kings I caught on the Miracle lures, but here is a photo that I took yesterday of a small Silver:

A few photos of a small 10 pound 4 ounce Coho Salmon from today (9/23/09):

We've been catching a ton of fish in the Skagit (I also hooked a dozen or so pinks in the Green yesterday) on those same lures... we fish them on a 24" leader off of a 3-way swivel with about a 12" dropper using 1.5-2 oz to keep it near the bottom. They work equally well from a boat or from shore. Excellent lures... I'd also like to see them in a few more colors... even black would be good.

Blacklab,
I will see what I can do for you. The store I work in has been out of the Miracle Lures for a week and a half because of the demand for them since I started bringing in photos of my fish caught on them. Plus, the owner of the store decided he is not buying any more "Humpy " Lures. :(

I will check with the owner of Miracle Lures to see if he has any of those Great little lures left. I have a couple of extra Miracle Lures, but if I give them away or sell them and then I loose a couple I will be out of gear myself. :(
