So I hear alot of guys talk about Primos, Elknut and Rocky's and other calls but I never hear anyone talk about Berry game calls. Anyone use them, Are they good crappy what?I figure he is a local boy and I like supporting local people but I need some feedback before I do so.

--I have the thunder bugle and it sounds like *censored* but I think the reed actually expired? It was right out of the box but like 4 years old and all I got was this god awfull squeek out of it, lol, But I havnt tried a brandnew reed yet so Im not giving up hope yet. I had to go back to my primos bull horn this year and that is always a good tute!

Great calls. Glen's been around many many years. He uses a plastic (polypropylene, I think) frame on his diaphragm calls, and was the first to do so, if I'm not mistaken. They have the ability to flex or form to the roof of your mouth a bit, making them pretty versatile and easy to "seal" to the roof of your mouth.
I used to design calls with Larry D. Jones (Wilderness Sound Productions) many years ago. I'm partial to Jones Calls but recognize that there are many others out there, and to each his own.
Good luck!

Whatever call you get, make sure you get it long before hunting time so you can practice, practice and practice some more. Have fun with your new call.

I've had good results from Berry's Sleazy Cow call, thats the only Berry call I've used. :twocents:

I have a large arsinal of calls keep your opptions open you never know what call will trigger a bull , the sleezy is good but my favorite is the primos hyper hot.

The calls are only as good as you are with them, keep that in mind ;)

Lots of good information above. Here is what I have found by purchasing products from every company that sells them. If you are talking about tubes you need to find one that matches your mouth position and what comes natural for you to make the "Tone". Rocky's tube has the narrowest mouth tube of them all and I can use it but it is not natural for me. But it might be for you. So you pick a tube that can get that low growl and the sound of huffing, and not tinny.
If you are talking about diaphragms... In my opinion, Glen's has the best quality diaphragm on the market. You can pick up all the rest and look at 10 of them off the rack. Their quality is not there. The latex connection points not at a consistent anchor point where they hit the aluminum or plastic holder. Or the tension of the latex is not consistent so you will get a higher or lower pitch when you use it.
My opinion, is that Glen has the best consistency than any other mass produced diaphragm company. Now if you have a friend that has a machine to hand make you a call you get exactly the call you want and the consistency you need to produce the same call from any call you pull out of your pack.

i found that any tube can work. ive used everything from primo to rockeys to a oil funnel and a peace of vacume hose and they all worked. they each sound like a different elk. Rockey is from idaho so he his somwhat a local guy and his reads are vary easy to use. i can call pretty good and my huntin partner, cant, but he can get a bull mad just as much as anyone. its not how well you say it but wat you say. so wat ever is the the easiest call for you to use is the best call for u to by. but i like rockeys big bull buggleing comp.

Rocky is from Idaho. Glen is from Washington (Medical Lake/Spokane area)... A tube is a tube as long as it sounds like an elk.

Best piece of advice so far. Along with an elk call I recommend buying Elknut's CD's or DVD's. It will pay off dividends for you.
