It was my first year hunting elk in WA and we were in 113 south of Sullivan. Were there opening day for 5 days. Saw only 2 spike elk and it feels now that we were fortunate to come across them. no close encounters. it was hot, the elk weren't talking, and it is so thick where we saw any sign, i couldn't figure out how to hunt them in those conditions. I have found a bear hunting spot though.
Anyone have any success in 113?

Nope. No elk in there.

No success either. Was there for 5 days too.

eight days and no luck. It's a tough place to hunt to say the least. This year my spot was crawling with people. Back to the drawing boards.

live, hunt, work there. walked into a herd with one forkhorn, sort of, had spikes and little eye guards. on day four of season. had to go to Oregon in middle of season so only got to go out on last day and didn't see anything but a moose.
did see a small bull at midnight last night when returning home right on LeClerc rd.
very hot most of season, 15-20 degrees above normal.

I called one in this week, on private land of course. Where do you live runningboard? I'm just north of Furport.

"Idaho, thats the only advice I have. "
Yeah, i've heard that advice before. was just hoping i didn't have to part with an extra $800 to get to where there are more elk that can be hunted.

A buddy and i hunted for 11 days up around Slumber creek. All we saw was 2 moose, 5 salt licks and some Carolina boys. No Elk no bears and 2 white tail does. But I heard they got into them down by the river. Heard that they were screaming down there. Guess we will have to try again next year.
