Hello Everyone,
So on the 21st of October I am headed over to the Yakima areas (Area 372,379 & 278) to do some deer hunting. Unfortunately I can't get over there earlier because of work. However I need some help on where about in those areas would be a good area to hunt? I normally hunt in Winthrop but can't this year because after I hunt for 2 days I'm heading over to Clear-water River in Idaho to do some Steelhead fishing. So can someone tell me what kind of deer I can expect over there Whitetail or Mule? Or any helpful advice you might have about where to hunt in those areas? Anything would be a big help. If I don't get my buck in that area than I might do some more hunting in the Polmeroy area on my way to Idaho because in that area Deer Hunting is open tell the 30th of October. Also I have my Bear and Cougar tag so can I expect to see either of those over in the Yakima Area? This is my first year I haven't gone out scouted and I'm kinda winging it this year. Which is not normally my style. So anyways I hope one of you hunter can help me out I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, and Good Luck to all of you this Deer Season.

IF I was you I would look outside of naches there are some places you can go up there but without scouting might be hard hit the gas stations in naches they could possibly help narrow the search down for you. I would also check the regs before hunting in the pomeroy area after the second weekend! Good Luck

Deer around Yakima area would be mule deer and mule deer/blacktail hybrids depending on where you are. The units you specifically mentioned would probably be pure muleys. I can't help you much on where to hunt in those units other than as I'm sure you are probably aware they are almost all private land. And as 400out said, Pomeroy area is only open for the standard 9 day season as far as I know. So the 25th should be the last day of the season.

Check the Nile Unit, Johnson Canyon. Saw some nice big bucks last year during late Bow/Elk.

id like to piggy back this thread!
I have my places I like to hunt and really not sure theres gonna be much chance of me pulling the trigger on a quick hunt in an unscouted area but hate to waste an opportunity.
Check my threads and you will see Ive never really asked for help in WA although ive been a member and active on here for over 2 years!
I will be working in the city of Yakima om monday and tuesday next week. I will be getting off work around 3pm... thats about 4 hrs each day to hunt give or take...
the only place Ive ever been in that area is on the actual base. (YFC)
Id need some super specifics...like drive 7 miles up hwy 123 and head up the logging road to the right after the bridge..
doesnt have to be great hunting...just legal deer hunting for a general tag holder
any suggestions would be great... PM me if ya please!
I never intended on going to this area to hunt... in fact...as of noon today I didnt know my work was sending me over there to work next week. Thats why Ive done no research...and Im only willing to put in so much effort to figure it out...because my real plan is the late hunt in the NE corner on private land...
but hate to waste an opportunity at a partially sponsored hunting trip ;)
thanks in advance for ur help!

Make sure you dont plan on driving 410 to the Nile unit from Yakima that Landslide will be a huge problem!!!
