Nice bull. I would shoot one like that anytime anywhere. Congrat's and nice job.
-
NICE BULL!
Never Mind the PM - couldn't tell that it was a rifle in the pic (awful small on a cell phone).
As for all the guesses about, mudflow, toutle, and even the olympic unit are off.
The only units open to a rifle in the olympics are the clearwater, matheny and wynoochee.
-
Why is no one smiling in that group :dunno: :chuckle:Nice Bull
-
Here are a few more pics.
(https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hunt101.com%2Fdata%2F500%2Fmedium%2FwebIMG_6800.jpg&hash=b1920d31bf0a62fe90767d4e3b58eda4ba2e8100)
I needed a bit of help getting the pack on. We long necked it and with the rack/head/cap it weighed 140 lbs. :o
(https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hunt101.com%2Fdata%2F500%2Fmedium%2FwebIMG_6823.jpg&hash=2b79421708de04c2466683228d72b04373849e80)
Check out the nose...looks a little goofy don't it?
(https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hunt101.com%2Fdata%2F500%2Fmedium%2FwebIMG_6927.jpg&hash=5abb17e9eb8ea8f6812e59f47e1285f2ef12c8c5)
There is a large scar on its lip and apparently a hole through the roof of the mouth into the nasal cavity. It was missing the ivory on this side.

--With the rifle and the beginning of October and on a river bottom that has to be the Quinault Ridge tag. :dunno:
-
That is a great guess, Congrats on a good bull
-
Quinault, Matheny, Clearwater or Wynoochie all have Oct. rifle hunts....and they all have river bottoms. Just to name a few. :chuckle:
-
my guess would be in the lungs. and i would leave at that. nice job.
-
Really, Really nice Rosie Billy. Nice work..
-
Congrats. Love the pic of his nose........ :)
-
Awesome rosie. Great color to his antlers.
-
Congrats on a great Rosie bull. Love the mass, and the coloring. How far did you have to pack that 140 lbs?
 :brew:
-
Real nice Rosey there BTKR! Congrats ... I don't doubt the weight of the head and cape, some people scoffed at me when I told them mine weighed 110 but I guess they'd have to be there to see the scale since most have never carried one they know how much they weigh right??? I had some neck meat and scraps in with mine though ... yours looks heavier to me, Congrats again! :)
-
I knew I shouldn't have posted the weight and yes, we did weigh it...twice..
I only packed it about 300 yards. :IBCOOL:
Any farther and we would have taken the neck out and probably not kept the cape.
Like I said, we long necked it and I left a little extra hide on the cape. That is all neck and it is resting on the pack shelf.
(https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hunt101.com%2Fdata%2F500%2Fmedium%2FwebIMG_6829.jpg&hash=285bb725ab054539a642b970f3aec5489de2b9e9)
I needed a little help here.
(https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hunt101.com%2Fdata%2F500%2Fmedium%2FwebIMG_6830.jpg&hash=6ab75ca5c8d5a73654e9a8b863d5b9aa023bb059)
-
Is there a reason for leaving the neck in? Just wondering.
Brandon
-
Way to go Willie. Beautiful animal, the color is so cool looking. Outstanding...
-
Sorry about BTKR I wasn't doubting you I was talking more about the people who gave me trouble about the wieght of mine when I posted it and yes we weighed mine with a cabelas scale at the truck too... 100+ pounds is a bear of a pack no matter how you slice it just ask Bucklucky ;)
-
Nice Bull man. Good to see one taken on this side of the state.
-
M_ray - No worries. I didn't take it that way.
Just a bad attempt at sarcasm on my part towards the type of people you were refering too.
-

Brandon
No real reason. That is just the way we parted it out. We took off the hind first, then the fronts, then we sawzalled down the spine.
-
Beautiful animal! Did I miss the story????????????????????? :brew:
-
great bull. grats
-
Well done BTKR and Co, that is one beautiful elk.
-
:brew:
-
100 pounds :'( 130 pounds :'( you guys are a bunch of girls. next time just call up your friendly YAR pack mule :P
-
oh yeah and great bull. i know what tag that was :hello:
-
Yes, should have called your a$$. Probably could have packed it out half at a time you big sumbich! lol
-
Congrats Willy on the fine Roosie you got!! Nice job man!!
-
damn it...
tried to reply to this like 3 days ago and it didnt take for some reason
any way
I love to talk hunting and Rosi's especially and I saw this elk in person the day after BTKR killed it. Let me tell ya...the pics look good but dont do the mass on that fat *censored* any justice!
I hate to say it because everyone knows I dont like BTKR but damn that was a pig!
and it carries the mass all the way out to the tips so it gives the illusion that its not that thick but it is!
I was very proud of the mass on my 2007 rosy...and its mounted on a 28 inch form... but putting this bull beside my form made it look like a damn black tail!
its a nice bull with great mass and great color to the horns...
the nose was interesting as well... it had an odd...not elk like hump in the nose. Reminded me of a moose snout... very big..very unique with tons of sign that he liked to mix it up with other big boys!
nice elk willie...it will look great in the back of ur shed under a tarp next to ur old auto trader magazines! :bash: :bash: :bash: :bdid: :yike: :bash: :'(
-
LOL. Thanks Dave.
Actually it will probably go IN the tin shed, not under the tarp. As for the mags...they are old hunting rags back to 1995. Just got rid of most of them..except the old F&H News..you guys remember the quad fold newpaper version? You never know when an old spot becomes good again.
-
Very Nice Bull. I measured the bases at 11 or 11 1/2 inches. I got pictures of the skull after it was cleaned. Nose was busted pretty good. I will post pic's of them later.

So was the bone gone or did it fall out? I know he had to have been gored pretty good to knock out that whistler and mess up his kisser.
-
Was it born that way or did someone shoot it in the jaw at one time :dunno: Mark

I think he took a tine to the mouth. A bullet would have done a lot more damage. The scar was on the left side of the face but there was nothing indicating and exit wound.

The left nostril was collapsed.

-
cross bread with a moose :dunno:
-
Ha ha, it did look like a moose nose. I will take more pic's of the skull after it was clean.
A section of the bone was gone BTKR. The other bone had been broken.
-
I have seen 3 elk like that, they all came out of the Bear River GMU, I think they were all born with the defect just like people, cleft palate, AKA hairlip.
-
Nice Rosie Congrats and Thanks for sharing
-
Hey BTKR, just curious, how many points did you have when you drew this tag. Also, damn nice bull but it seems like YOU would have held out for bigger? Did you see any? Still, it's an awesome Rosie, he'd be going on the wall if it was mine.
