I just heard today that the 18 year old kid that had the other nooksack big bull archery tag got a bull in the high 300''to400'' class does anyone know anything about this,if true someone sure did not give him much credit as a good hunter.
-
One of the muzzleloaders took a 360 class bull. I had not heard about the archery tag holder getting a big one like that. :dunno:
-
When scouting up there I saw some around the upper 300's
-
Well so far nothing over 330 has been takin out of the unit this year. One 8 pt. with short tines, and 2 300 class six points by the archery guys. Dont know about the other muzzie tag yet but heard he was tagged out.
Upper 300's huh? You must be seeing a bunch of different elk than the rest of us!
-
Seriously...
Sniper...whats the biggest "official" bull you've ever heard of come out of there? How about "rumor" bulls or on the hoof bulls, estimates??
I'd be really surprised if that country has ever put out a 360+ bull... ???? Thats just going by what I know about western wash... "in general".... though.... :dunno:
-
There was a 386 taken out of there last year and 3 bulls over 350 I saw this year I would say one 7x8 was pushing the 390 mark
-
Those are some big bulls...got any pics by chance?

Hmm. Those would be some very large rosies for the area. Pics would be great.

I could be wrong, but I don't believe the Nooksack elk herd qualify as Roosevelt (especially since most of them have been transplanted when rebuilding the herd). I think the rule is that they must be west of I-5 to be Roosevelt.
-
I think these elk are classified as cascade elk. Look in the NW big game records, there have been some monsters taken in western WA!
-
They are classified as Cascades.

One of the muzzy tags went on a 310 bull

I saw some absolute monsters in there in the 80's. I don't have proof, but would challenge that there were many well above 350. (I'm not the best at judging Elk score, but knowin the little I do now... More than then, it would not surprise me if there are some now that are that big in that unit.)

I would never hunt that unit.

Most the elk in the Nooksack unit are high 200's so please start putting in for the blues so some of us that live here have a shot ant getting drawn for these small elk!!! Thank you :)
-
I would never hunt that unit.
:chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
biggest ive seen is 349 with a muzzleloader from last season
-
There are no big bulls in the Nooksack.
-
It's interesting that the farther away you live from the Nooksack unit, the bigger you think the elk are. :chuckle:
-
You are right I live here and wouldnt was my time hunting anything here!!
-
I would never hunt that unit.
I believe you
-
I will tell you one thing for certain about them Nookies. They are very very tasty!!!!
For the maturity of my bull and the fact he was ruttin pretty hard he is as good as or better eating than the best elk I have eaten including the calves. :)
-
Who is putting in for this unit this year?
-
I did...
-
I did not.......
-
I put the archery hunt down as my only choice... I have other good options if i dont draw but Im sure there are a couple good ones left :chuckle:
-
MY BOY DID MY NOOKSACK TAG FOR ME. I WANT A TAG.
-
