Post by: SHANE(WA) on December 27, 2007, 10:01:04 PM: I shoot a T/C black diamond, I was shooting 460 gr hornady great plains bullets and 100 gr of triple 7, shot him head on at 50 yards, made 50 more before hitting a tree and knocking his teeth out

We've been using the 385 grn great plains hornadys with 110grrains of loose powder, that load seems to do very well too, we can easily shoot them accurately to 150yds open sights. No scopes here in ID, pivot hammers only as well, hope they change it though?

I have heard they have around 45 elk in this area.....have seen not only some good bulls, but also some good bucks on the other side of the farm around wallula. thanks for sharing

I would love to hunt out that way, at least if the hunting was slow, there's always the wineries. I don't know what's more impressive, the bull, or drawing that permit on a 3rd choice! I'm with an earlier poster, can't even draw a measly cow permit with 5 points.

A question for all. In the regs. for special permits, the last column lists the number of applicants. Is that the total number (i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th choices) or just 1st choice applicants?

Also, when you draw that with a 3rd, does it automatically mean that nobody applied for it with a 1st or 2nd choice with more points than 3?
