Title: wader boots

Hi,
I am new to the forum.  Am trying to do some fishing gear buying on the cheap, so am looking at ebay to buy some wading boots.  I have 5mil neoprene waders, stocking foot.  My normal shoe size is 8.5.  Do wading boots generally run big assuming you will have your thick waders on or do I need to buy a bigger size boot than my normal shoe size?  I am thinking if I get a size 9 boot, I will probably be ok, but want to ask those more experienced than myself.

Buy a bigger boot.  Go up at LEAST one full size.  Made that mistake once and will never repeat.

i usually go up a half size to make room for heavy socks.

not to change the subject but those 5mm waders are gonna be horrible in warmer weather.

the waders were really a good price, so once I figure out this whole fishing thing maybe I'll have to get another lighter pair.  I haven't used the waders yet, but i haven't been too hot at the river lately.......

good wading boots usually will be true to your regular shoe size.  i have size 12 feet, and my size 12 simms boots are perfect.

never a bad idea to try them on with at least a couple pairs of heavy socks to be sure, most places will have some cut off neoprene booties for trying them on as well.

Waders and Wading boots are sized to fit within your foot size range with sizing to accomodate the heavy sock and whatever boot you wear on the outside. To be safe I would head off to a sporting goods store and try a pair on....most places worth a damn will let you do that. And .5 mil can get hot and bunchy on the feet....when you pack them in too tight you get cramped and cold quick making for a miserable day. I switched from big 5 mil to lighter breathable waders with under armour underneath and have never looked back...comfy, warm and dry...even in a float tube or blind or standing in knee deep ocean water for hours on the coast hunting ducks.
