WTF
That is a shame! I hope you find them.
Was your camp pretty remote...........could there be witnesses??
-
LOT of people around Sunday. We were in the hood coming from the Nile over the top to the Wenas looking for a smoother route than Clemans. HOLY CRAP :yike:
-
Man i hate stuff like that >:( >:( >:(
-
Was it right on Bald, or what, pm me if you don't want to post.
-
That *censored* pisses me off. We had a large ice chest stolen from our camp in the Little Naches a few years ago. It had all our food and Coke for a week in it. Luckily the *censored*s weren't brave enough to steal the tent or anything inside of it, at least as far as we could tell.
-
That is so *censored* its unreal. Could you imagine the confrontation if you and or you and buddies showed up and they were in the middle of doing it.

No doubt.
-
Did you contact the Forest Service ?
I had a friend who set up camp before season once, so he could reserve his spot, and it dissapeared.
He later found out that the Forest Service confiscated his tent and stuff because it was left unattended, and that practice is illegal.
-
I live in the general area and will check around
Good idea. Might want to check with forest service.
-
:yike:People are unreal!! Sorry that happened.
-
KILL THEM. >:( :mgun2:
-
dead thieves cant destify against you :guns:

Keep an eye out in Craigslist and the newspapers too. Someone is going to probably try and sell this stuff at some point. Sorry to hear that. Pretty *censored* of them.
-
That sucks big time ! Karma

That is a really good idea. My cousin had his truck stolen and stripped, sure as sh*t they pieces started showing up one by one on craigslist. No law enforcement necessary. ;)
-
I hope the forest service has your stuff. Cant believe people have ball$ big enough to pull a stunt like this, knowing people are around every corner carrying guns :bash: :bash: Sorry to hear this kind of crap. Mark

I took my 10 year old nephew on his first big game / elk hunt in 2003 down in Oregon and had the same thing happen to us. Stole our food, cook ware, sleeping bags, tent stakes but left the tent and archery target. What a way to introduce a kid to hunting. Now he has no interest in it. it was really an ass kicker for me because a lot of my cook ware, stove and lanterns were passed on to me from my grandfather who died in 1974. All those physical memories from my childhood are gone and can't be shared with his great grandson. >:(

I'd like to know how long your camp was unattended? And for two days why it was unattended. A theif is right at the bottom of the food chain. Period.
Also think it's *censored*t that guys are going up a week in advance and setting up camp and leaving trying to claim a spot.

why's it BS?
I know of a couple spots in the blues where guys setup stay the week for deer, week off, then return for elk.

yeah most of the guys i know set thier camp up the weekend before deer season and leave it through elk season. its alot easier then setting it up every weekend for a month.

There were guys bringing stuff over and setting up camps during the muzzy elk season, not all that uncommon. I think most of them weren't aware of the 21 day limit on state land though..... :dunno:
-
I must say I hate thieves more than unethical hunters. I don't think the forest service did it but sure would check.
Another issue that comes to mind is people that think they own real estate on public land.
We have hunted the top of Bald Mtn for many years and live locally. Everybody has a mission and some are sociable. We have seen great displays of stupidity and cheating. We quit a couple years ago because of bad few.
My wife, son and I were hunting first light and around 10 am we drove to a clearing on a numbered forest service rd. stopping to have a sandwich. A hunter approached 200 yds on the passenger side and another on the drivers side. He informed us that their large group from Seattle was camped there and we we be advised to leave. He stayed at the front fender of our truck and had his buddies shuttle beer to him by jeep from the tent. This could have turned ugly fast. When we left I wished them luck. I have no sympathy if that camp or any of their friends camp disappears.
-
I live by 340 AND 342. I would advise setting up your tents and leaving them for more than a few days. Lots of tweekers from Yakima, Ellensburg, Naches drive in these areas during the day looking for stuff to steal. I see them coem out before every hunting season because they know it is easy pickings.
Sako 223. If anyone makes any kinds of threats or tries to intimidate immediately call the Sheriff . They will come out and help you out. Please do not guys get away wit that kind of crap.
When I run into a holes that come over and hunt buy my house and trespass ( I caught a guy at 0700 hrs putting a stalk on my neighbor's posted property) and act like they own the land, a quick chat letting them know I am coming back with a Sheriff's Deputy changes their opinion really fast.
-
>:(Sorry to hear of your loss. When people set up camps in advance to secure a spot, it is being prepared. Leaving unattended for a few days or a week, gives nobody else the right to tamper with it. As an ethical sportsman, it would never cross my mind to intrude on anothers property, even if he beat me to the spot. It is a risk you take though, to set up an early camp in hopes not to find a *censored* who has no respect. I will keep my eyes and ears open in my neck of the woods though.
-
we've been hunting up there for about 30yrs. everybody knows crazy George's camp we all help each other and lookout for one another if somebody had a bad time up there it wasn't from the usual crowd. it wasn't the forest service there was to much good stuff left. it had to be some tweekers or other scum that took our stuff. the tents were white canvas 5ft. walls 14x14 one with 10x14 cook shack attached costom made not cabelas imitations about 6500.00 in tents alone. and yes there usually is someone in camp.we will be up there for elk season camp wont be as nice but we will still be there. next yr. there will be trail cameras setup any time we are away.and if we catch them its SSS.
-
sorry to hear about that
-
I always run in to some strange people in this area. Sorry for your loss, but it doesn't surprize me. I will keep my eyes open.

Nope, i wish i had gear. all mine burned up in my shed fire a year ago.
-
Sorry to hear about your stuff. Like others have said, it sounds like tweekers. >:( No sane or sober person would even think of such a bold and stupid act. But you get some tweeked out junkie logic going, and it probably seemed like a great idea to the thieves at the time.
You're probably lucky nobody from your camp was there at the time. If they were crazy enough to pull this stunt, there's no telling what they would have done if somebody had walked in on them. I understand that you lost a lot of gear/money, but none of it is worth somebody getting hurt. And as much I hate to say it, that includes the thieves. :twocents:

-
What ...holes! I wonder how'd they feel if someone did that to them? They're fortunate ya'll didn't pull up in the middle of the robbery. Hope you find out who did it.
-
That is BS they need to be hung HIGH
-
I couldn't even imagine pulling into our camp and seeing it gone!!! holy $hit >:(
Sorry
-
Lots of people set up camp early and have to leave..come back etc. That doesn't make it OK that someone stole their stuff. I think it is awful and I hope they get caught!
-
That really sucks. The thieves need to be hamstrung and left to rot in some deep dark canyon. :mor:
-
that sucks. I hope you find your gear. for now on I'm setting up a hidden trail cam at camp. Whenever I leave the camera goes on. They might still get your stuff but hope you can get a license plate or something.
-

Just curious why you think that's BS? I've set up elk camp a week early for years, who wants to miss the 1st day of hunting just to set up camp, we typically setup the weekend before season. We do it for a couple reasons and yes one reason is to stake claim to the spot we've been using for years but the other is time management.
I love the trail camera idea, I would make sure you use an infrared model so they don't steal it too. I think my camp will have a couple camera's in the future also.
Hope you get your stuff back, what a blow to your year...
Coon
-
I set up camp early as well. Not as much about the spot, though I have a favorite that I have been in for years, but about time management. My hunting vacation is about hunting, notwood chopping and setting a tent up. I also tend to be one guy and do a majority of it myself as the little ones play and the Mrs enjoys herself.
-
I will keep my eyes peeled in the Tri-Cities adds. Sorry to here about that. I know when I archery hunt, my trailer is left unatended for 4-5 days at time as i use it mainly for a base camp, I'll return from spike to re suplly, shower, etc. I often worry what I'll come back to...if anything
-
Man so sorry for your loss.

Would you rather everyone go up the day before or maby the day of opening day, and it be a free for all cluster fu#% We go up a week in advance and have for years never had anybody mess with our stuff luckily, but there is still plenty of spots to camp. Get over it.
-
:yeah:
-
Man that really suck's. Are camp is up there now, I hope it still there apon are return thursday morning.
-
WTF
Sorry to hear....
I had the same thing happen in Idaho about 6 years ago, most of the camp was stolen.
I say practice SSS, I won't say a thing..... :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
sorry to hear about that, dirtbags that do this should be strung up. if i were going to leave a camp unattended for a more than a day, maybe a good idea to put up a hidden trail cam to capture any activity..
-
Here's an idea.....lets plant a robocamp along a mountain road to see who's dishonest....disgusting that idea even needs consideration.....
-
Any news on this???
-
I am sorry for your loss bud.... it sure makes it hard to have a great season when you need to worry about everything you bring up to camp. It's been a few seasons since the same happened to our camp. The snows of I believe 96 hit and dropped several feet of snow so we decided to leave our camp and trailers up high. It took us better part of a day and a half to cut our way out and by the time we hired a guy during season to doze the road our wall tent and stove were gone. For the trailers the doors were kicked in and cleaned out. Ya it sucks and we now have cameras on about 3 different trees.
-
We once had some stuff taken from our camp in Oregon. I now set up a trail camera to capture anyone who comes in our camp. Make sure you set it up to get their license plate. A trail camera is cheap insurance.
-
brownduck, so sorry to hear of your loss. Makes a guy want to take a can of spray paint and cover all your gear with your last name or something to discourage the theft...let em look for other gear easier to sell.
Here is a link to a bit of similar discussion....over a year ago regarding back woods crime... http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,11925.0.html

I haven't got intot he trail camera fad at all, but that seems like a cool idea for this sort of thing.
