I will be leaving on Tuesday to elk hunt in the heppner unit with a any bull tag. has any body ever hunted that unit . what do you think of that area? thanks

go out the western route and go to the 5312 rd go south until you hit the private land fence that runs east and west there are some really good bulls out there that hang out along that fence if you can catch them leaving the private land heading out to the public then thats your best bet, trust me we use to own the land out there and the outfitter that we leased to is battle creek outfitters the 5316 goes out that area and bumps up into the private as well hit the rush creek area thats where you'll see the larger bulls in the 300 range. the land to the east of that block of private is BLM and then goes back to forest service thats where i'd go. the fence is a very good option lots of elk run up and down that fence.

hit the 24 rd off hwy 207 head left on the 23 rd and camp at the bottom about ten miles down, several bulls in thier, :)
