there was a 2x3 buck hangin around on my property about a month or 2 ago, and i just found out it was there this morning. i havent had time to deer hunt so far this season, and by the looks of it, i probably wont be able to at all. i have 4 weeks to get my house completed, before we have to start payin on it. should i go there in the morning and take him? (if by chance he's there again). if im lucky, i might be able to hunt late buck, but theres no garantee.. i know there's not much sport in harvesting an animal like this. but you cant eat "sport". more than likley ill probably take him. but i would like to hear your thoughts..

I'd have some chili cheese sticks made up at Morton Meat.

kill him, take pics, and post tomorrow. ;)

kill him!!

it just seems to easy. i guess i could try to spice it up a little bit. just not sure how. would a 45acp 1911 drop a deer??
-
If you can use the meat then kill him. If you don't need/want the meat, then don't. Yeah a .45 would definitely work. Just get within about 20 yards.

If you decide to take him, I would worry more about a clean ethical kill shot rather than trying to spice it up by using your pistol. :twocents:

the pistol was more of joke than reality. i've made 1 bad shot on a bear and couldnt find it. it still makes my stomache turn. i finished off the last of the deer meat last month. so yeah i would like the meat. especially when we gotta start paying for our house.. we are gonna be living pretty tight...

It took about .5 of a second to think of my awnser. Take him if you have no time to hunt and could use the meat.
-
Harvesting meat that will benefit your family is the purest form of hunting - straight back to the hunter-gatherer root of it all, before we figured out agriculture and ruined everything! Heck yes, kill him and eat him.

well i was there before day light. when it got just light enough to see, i crossed my driveway to look down the hill. nothing. i look to the right, and i can see a light colored figure. turned out to be an elk. the whole heard was about 20 yrds away from me and i didnt even know it. i dont know if the buck wasnt there due to the heavy rain or the elk.. oh well i guess.. maybe saturday morning i can try it again...

that about sums it up. It's up to you. You don't have to make apologies for legally tagging an easy deer. Eat good this winter. His rack will be a great memory of the year you built a new house! Congrats on that, by the way.
