Title: Deer hunting *censored* bags
Post by: huntncoug on October 25, 2009, 10:39:27 PM
We hunted the Pullman area for pheasants this weekend.  It was the last weeked open for deer for the unit.  We hunted a few "feel free to Hunt" areas and I was suprised by what I saw.  Every place we hunted was being patrolled by groups of 2-4 four wheelers, all with rifles across their back.  They where hot lapping all the CRP and the edges of all the eyebrows.  If you own the land that is fine or if you are disabled I believe it is fine but all the guys I saw were plenty able bodied.  If you are too lazy to actually hunt, stay home.  If you are too out of shape to properly hunt, spend a month or two to get into shape.  Cruising CRP in a 4 wheeler is not hunting, if you think my theory is wrong let me know.

not like most crp is especially tough country to get around in but unfortunately very open so everyone thinks they can effectively hunt it without ever gettin out of their trucks or off of their wheelers

Yup! I see it out here all the time. 99% of them are folks that are just too lazy to do it the right way. Pretty damned pathetic if you ask me.

My family has a 30,000 acre ranch in eastern Montana, I could use the 4 wheeler method all I want but it is just stupid to hunt this way.  I get my enjoyment out of being in the field and pursuing the deer on foot.

Damn right, we put up lots of deer including a legal 4 point while hoofing and pheasant hunting.

You are spot on in your observations. Same where I live and hunt. Reminds me of the "handicapped" people I see go shopping in Walmart, target etc.. They park in handicapped spot. Walk with no difficulties into the store and use one those free scooters/shopping carts in the store. Finish shopping, park it and walk back to their vehicles.

I think they should have these same scooters in camo available on all pubic, free to hunt land available for lazy hunters.
