Thinking about trying out the 466 Stampede unit for the late season in a few weeks. To save me a scouting trip anyone got an opinion on this unit? Anyone have any info on gate closures etc? Any input would be most appreciated.
Happy Hunting!

Anyone, someone must have hunted this area this year or the one before? :dunno:

I haven't hunted that area friend but I would strongly suggest you put in the effort and scout it. Nothing beats a good scouting mission. You still have time. Good luck on your hunt! :hello:

ive been back there a few times during archery seasons, seen a few bucks but never within bow range.

The odds of you getting over stampede pass during late season is very slim. The snow is coming and it is normally not accessible in late season. Besides, the cats have eaten most of the deer in there.
We used to go in there in the winter with snowmobiles and look at the elk on the airstrip at the old town of Lester. Used to be about 150 or more standing around. Many years ago the cat population exploded and the guys that work the watershed said the snow was all red in the airstrip. They said it was a blood-bath in there. The elk herds dropped really fast and after that, we never saw another elk in there. Then the *censored*s moved the gate keeping people farther away from the town.

I was back there last year and I think there had to been about 200 hunters there. At the gate there was probably about twenty rigs. I didn't hear any shots or see any deer. I personally will never go back there. Last year there was no snow so was able to go anywhere back there. I did see a nice billy tho. I hope you have better luck than I did if you go. As we all know it's about being at the right place at the right time. :twocents:
