Title: CVA round barrel and williams peep sight
Post by: gadwall on November 04, 2009, 01:08:26 PM: I have a CVA Elkhorn Pro round barrel muzzleloader that I want to put a Williams peep sight on. Tried 2 of them at Cabelas and the gunsmith and I determined that the taps in the barrel were too small and did not match the screws provided with the sight,even though the alignment of the holes was right on. Anyone else had this problem? I may have to have the holes re-tapped if I stay with the same sight.

Don't know if this is one you tried put it is supposed to be for the CVA round barrel's.

Williams Part# 70154
WGRS-CVA Round
It should come with the correst screws in the package.

I use the WGRS on my White Muzzle Loaders, I really like them.

Post by: carpsniperg2 on November 04, 2009, 10:45:37 PM: i like a peep sight i shoot better with one by far compared to open and the tru glo i was talking about has a small and brighter front pin the old pin covered a deer at 150 it has alot of coil around the globe in the front instead of a little stick :twocents:

So, which sight do you prefer? I may or may not change from the stock sights that came with the gun. Shot a good muley this year (see topic "Yelp has a buck down") but I have a late cow tag coming up. Give me the info on the sight you put on your Elkhorn to replace the original sights, how much they were and where you got them. Thanks, Gad.

I must be technologically challenged today. I found the sight you recommend on the Tru-Glo website but can't find it in Cabela's, only the muzzlebrite sight w/o the front hood. Please send me the link to order. Looks like a great sight.

The sight looks great, I like the all metal contruction of the globe. Read the reviews on Cabelas site. A few said they wish the rear sight had reference marks for adjustment. Do you see this as a problem with the one you have used??

Post by: carpsniperg2 on November 06, 2009, 02:45:19 PM: no, my other one came today for my black diamond. what i do is take a perment marker and mark the spot wear it sits by puting a strait line from the site to the base and from the peep site to the front very easy to do and you can see if it has slipped if your lines don't match up anymore not a prob at all you will love it very solid sight. the only things the lines do if they are on there is show you wear it is siting for a reference to if you think your sight is off or to check to make sure it is still on.

Post by: carpsniperg2 on November 07, 2009, 09:22:56 AM: shoot me a pm i am sure it will shoot great just got mine put on my black diamond can't wait to shoot it and get it drivin tacks like my cva elkhorn also it comes with a little plactic sunsade i just toss it i have never had a problem with the pin being to bright. even though it is super bright :chuckle: you might play with it and see what you think of it.

Post by: hunter guy on November 13, 2009, 08:25:37 AM: I just got the ghost ring truglo sight to replace stock sights. The gun shot really good with them. I put 20 rounds of 240 grain XTP hornady with 80 grain ff777 and put together some really tight groups on saturday (for me). Best my winchestor x-150 (actually cva) has ever shot. I also modified the cheap stock that was rubbing on the barrel and free floated it. I don't know what exactly it was that put together the nice groups but it sure shot way better than it did the week before with 405 powerbelts and stock sights. If I was a better shot I think I could have put 3 under 1" at 50.

I'm still interested in the williams peep anyone had experience with both these sights?

got my new one put on the black diamond and all dialed in to 125yards time for some meat and horns come on 20th

and yes hunter guy i have both of them use to shoot a williams on my blackdiamond and it shot good but i just took it off and but another globe site on it and it reallt shoots good now i think it is because i have three pins to line up 1 front 2 rear instead of one red in a black hole. my cousin and uncle both still use the williams but i think i am going to get them to switch next year for 50 it really helped my groups and that smaller front pin that comes with the kit makes a big diffrence at 100+ the pin does not take up the whole vitals of the deer like a factory site will.
