p.s. i hate to say it but i know muzzleloaders don't need orange but a brown coat that looks like a elk i would be scared to be in the woods with that thing on :chuckle: :yike: :chuckle:

Story man....got to hear the details behind it. Don't leave us hanging like this.
So there was alot of pre-scouting. We had a few areas picked out. On the first day we went down in a whole and called in a bull that we never saw. We got some responses from above so we got the wind in our favor and went down after him. They don't get big because they are stupid. Before we knew it he was on our down wind side and bugling about 80 yards away. Right where we came down. We didn't set up far enough to Jason's left, I think that bull would have came in on top of him if we did. Hind sight being what it is that would have been the worst pack out ever.
The evening came and went with nothing special going on.
The second morning we packed up the trucks 6 guys total. 1 of the other guys drew a Yakima Firing Center Mule deer Muzzy tag. So we all went to take part in the hunts. (I'll post the deer pic here also) So we load up and go to a different area that during the scouting trips didn't show much elk but the sign was everywhere. As we get to the drainage that we are going to glass we start seeing cows but no bulls so we keep working our way down and around the area which ends at a big landing 2/3 of the way down this drainage. The shooter, a friend and myself are in the 1st truck and as we get out of the pickup at the end of the landing our friend spots 2 cows and a rag horn bull about 15o yards below, not a shooter so we back off and watch then as the head into the timber on the other side. With all of us on the landing talking and glassing as the wind blows our frind bugles and gets a response right away. With the wind we knew he was close but couldn't locate the actual direction of the bugle so he bugles again and this time the response is below and to our left which is the same area the rag horn and the 2 cows were. At this moment Jason is toward that side of the landing and he is raising his gun as Clay is shouting shoot that F-er. Boom 1 shot through the heart at 125 yards downhill. He went another 50-60 and died how you see him in the picture. And about 15 or so more cows that we never saw file out into the timber where the 1st elk went. So we gut him, string 200 or so yards of rope and cable up the hill attatch it to the truck and drag him up to the top. Back at camp by 2pm where we rejoice in the day and plan our Mule deer hunt for tomorrow. What a hunt and the Mule deer hunt was just as awesome we saw lots of elk, 3 monster bull. Lots of Mule deer and Clay shoots this one at 170 yards 1 shot with a muzzleloader. Those new bullets and a peep sight are the ticket fellas.
