I went to winston to scout for late archery, talked to some Modern Hunters and they were not seeing very many, either taken or "on the hoof" blamed it on the weather, but if you dont get out of the truck......

i hunted winston this yr. i got mine on opening day see "tagged out 09"  there were elk around not as many as some yrs tho. last yr i seen the herd i shot mine in and then nothing not even a track for the rest of the season. this yr i seen one herd of 12 shot my 3x4 and then only seen elk twice more over the rest of the week, one cow calf combo and then 7 cows . i did see fresh track at least once a day for the rest of the week in the snow.  i think with the few clear nights we had they moved at night. there wasnt a lot of pressure in my area this yr. i think i ran into 2 hunters all yr. which is very rare for anywhere in winston.
