Title: Bear hunting and stumbled onto a cougar!
Post by: longrange7mm on November 13, 2009, 05:07:03 PM: Hey all i was out bear hunting yesterday rode my bike in on a closed rode about 7 miles i was glassing snowline looking for bears, but nothing :(. at about 4 i realized i may want to start working my way back since i left my flash light in my vest :bdid:i took off for the truck. I was coming into a clear cut and there was a cougar in the road about 50 yds. he heard me stop my bike of course. and looked at me as i was trying to get my gun off my pack. i got on him when he was about 75 yds and kissed at him he stopped and looked then ran off into the trees offering me no shot :'( he wasnt a big cat maybe 120 lbs. but very pretty. :) Ive never ran into a cat like that. is this about the only way to hunt cats out here in west wa. Has anybody ran into them like this bear hunting.

My mother in law has told me she sees bear and cougar out riding her horse they go all the time but they always go on private land. maybe i will tag along with a pistol lol :IBCOOL: better not one of her hippie anti gun friends will prolly shoot me :mgun: lmao

The following weekend I came around a corner and caught a nice tom in the ditch line, by the time I could get on him he was midair bailing over the end of a landing. I was beginning to think there were more cats than deer. Havent seen one since. Mark
