Howdy. Just wondering if anyone is buying coyotes or bobcats right now? I lost my job today and was thinking about a possible supplemental income in between job searching. Thanks
-
Wow. I am sorry to hear that.
-
Me too. I think with what they pay you'd probably come up losing money but it would be fun.

Hey you put a offer out like that and you have to invite all of us. :chuckle:
-
sorry about your news, that sucks

Somebody on another thread or forum mentioned that they sold coyote and bobcat pelsa on ebay and made fairly good money, Just a thought would probably have to tan them though. Just a possibility.
Hope you find another job quickly. You never know you could get into something better.
-
Thanks folks, I really appreciate it. I was blindsided by this one. I figured that I might be able to take my mind off of things, shoot a few dogs and possibly make a couple of bucks for the effort. I figured that the demand and market was pretty low right now. Either way, things will work out for the better.

The ones I saw on e-bay were tanned, but they are going for $40-$75. The untanned ones are going for about half that. Also depends on how good the fur is. Better/thicker ones get a higher yeild. Keep on get'n them doggs
-
Ya, you can just dry them and sell them that way too. they can be tanned later. Don't know how long shelf life is just dried. Anyone know?
-
look up moyles in Idaho for tanning hides..About 25 each, taxis will cost 3 to 4 times that..proper care is a must..dogs on the fur market 15 tops..bobs 75 to 80 this side 200 to 280 eastside depending on pelt color and quality..Unless your in prime country fuel costs is gonna eat it up...fur on this side, dog and cat wise is poor in color for furriers. If your gonna shoot them, alot of work there.I only shoot them in the head.No sewing involved. You really have to be into it,lots of time and work..Oyeah watch the furs on the net and see if they are selling,or just sitting there..

-
Thanks! I figured that I wouldn't get squat for them. I'll just go out and snipe a few for fun and let the ravens eat well. Nothing like getting lost in your hunting focus to forget the crap in life. ;)
-
What kind of work do you do?
-
Just about anything. I was in electrical supply but have a ton of forklift and warehousing experience. Also Electrical and HVAC.
-
Its still cool to work your hides, and wait.heck if ya pick up a tank of gas or some ammo :dunno: Kinda fun
-
-I work for CenturyTel, out of Elma, we have a guy retiring in december and after all said in done there may be a entry level position open that you may qualify for with some electrical background, may be worth a shot if your interested.
-
Sweet, that would be cool! I am only a couple hundred hours short of my electrical license. I have done work with PLCs and low voltage controls as well, but not a ton.
