Title: Tag soup
Post by: Kain on November 15, 2009, 08:07:26 PM
I really tried this year and never even saw one.  Just looking in the wrong spots I guess.  Now for the cats, got a boot tag for South Cascades.  Got Rainshadows CD and call.  I think I have the basic idea down now just need to find one.

I never seen one either. I saw lots of sign but nothing making it. I will get out there late summer and do a little more scouting.

No Bears here.  I deserve it.  I didn;t get any scouting done this year and only went hunting 1 day with bear in mind.  Will put in a lot more time next year I hope.  I have a feeling I will pull a spring bear tag this year maybe.

Not a big deal man, not many people kill bears period, let alone with any regularity.  Then again, not many people hunt them that hard.  Personally I just deer and elk hunt, rarely go out just for bear, but I buy a tag every year just incase.

No bear here.  Saw one 36 hours before the season opened......chased him around for a few weeks.  Ran across a small bear when grouse hunting and only armed with a .410 and bird shot......Hunted my ass off for bear learned a lot and will try again next year.

Didn't see any but I wasn't targeting them either. I'll just mix the tag with venison stew and let the wife have it in her bowl. :chuckle:

I saw 45 of them this year but didn't pull the trigger.  Ran into one a week or two ago (tracks) that I certainly would have if I had seen him in person.  What a frickin hawg track.  He was carrying something too.  That really intrigued me but I will never know.

I wish I had that problem. My year started out good helping killbilly and my wife with their spring tags. Then I saw a couple, including the one with a collar a few weeks before the season. And that was it. I only went out twice though so I am not complaining, just wish I had a chance to be picky. lol

See, if 45 of us just follow Bone at a discreet distance.......our soup would taste alloy better.

I'd thought it was going to be easy to put a bear in the bag. Just a matter of intercepting and selecting a nice fat fluffy one on it's way to snack on volunteer apple tree wind falls. On the plus side did kill some time out beating the bush looking at sign. More time sitting in a lawn chair in the shade.

Suppose this hunting has one thing in common with fishing. Never know if the expedition is going to be a fishing trip or a boat ride until it's over. Empty handed hunter at least gets an armed walk in the woods.

Might be doing a european mount with my tag.
