Title: Huntnphool and Mray's deer trip
Post by: popeshawnpaul on November 18, 2009, 02:04:17 PM
I got an exclusive photo of the nice buck that M_ray shot today in Montana.  He is probably going to be really mad at me for releasing the real photo to you guys so I've done a recreation.  It looks to be a nice buck.  Can't wait to hear the story.  I just couldn't wait...

At least it died with a smile on its face.

Looks like your typical montana muley, not real wide with tall horns.  Looks to be a 4x4 typical although my picture isn't the greatest representation.

Phool hasn't shot one but I hear he has his eyes on a tall racked muley...   ;)

Mray - I just located my special measuring tools for deer like this.  Let me know if you want to put a cartoon tape to that rack!

Mray is 7' tall and 320 pounds (for comparison)....I'd say that muley weighs at least 550 field dressed, skinned, without legs, but with balls attached.

Ok ok, you all have questioned my drawing skills so I drew another one.  This one is pretty good.  The buck is better on the one side than the other.  Looks to be a 170 type buck gross or slightly less?

Hey Pope, your second drawing is still weak on the left, i did notice you added an eye guard.. Keep drawing and it will be a world record in no time..

Yeah, the left side is weak but I did notice the other eye guard when I looked at it more.

I'll have to disagree with you pop.  Like someone said the left side looks weak.  I'd say 160gross tops. :chuckle:

I might not disagree with you.  That's why I stated "or slightly less".  I think the right side if matched on the left might score this buck up near 175 or 180.  If it was just symetrical as the left side then 160 or so. It has really deep forks and mass on the right side.  A nice buck.  I would have pulled the trigger.

We'll see what the boys come up with next...   ;)

Just got off the phone with M_ray.  Huntnphool still hasn't tagged out but he has his eye on a couple of deer.  We'll see what they come up with.  They say they are taking lots of pictures...

Will try to get a writeup and some pics done this weekend. We hit pavement at 1:00pm yesterday and drove strait through, I got in at 5:00am and had to cape my deer, clean, unpack, play with kids etc., and I'm hitting a wall.

Here is a quick pic of the area for you to look at for the time being.
