I plan on killing a cow during the late season in an antlerless only unit. I am going to be hunting between 2 and 4 miles behind a locked gate so I will be deboning the critter before packing it out. I planned on not taking the head out at all but not sure what the regs say about keeping evidence of sex in an antlerless only unit.
Anyone know?

I had a doe tag once and had to keep the ovaries with the meat possibly even attached?
-
leave udder attached to one of the rear quarters.

read page 65 of hunting regs.
-
or leave a tit on it

I spoke with an enforcement officer in my area as I too was doing the same. he was satisfied with a few pics of the animal and the boned carcass. THAT DOES NOT MEAN IT IS OK WITH EVERY OFFICER, just what I found. he told me the big concern was animals with 3 hamstrings and 4 backstraps and cows shot on general tags. it might pay to ask the enforcement guy in your area if he would cut you the same slack. otherwise, you need evidence of sex.....as mentioned above.

evidence of sex must be attached to the "largest piece" if quartered. Leave the tits on and attach your tag with a zip tie thur one. the game guys will be happy.
