Title: N. Dakota Spring Snow Goose Hunt?
Post by: Snowman on November 27, 2009, 01:15:07 PM
Thinking of maybe going on a guided hunt in a couple of years for snows in the dakota's. Any info on some good decent priced guides? There will be a total of 8 of us going and 2 dogs. Been searching around and reading different guides websites. Looking for anyone that has some good suggestions.

adrenalineoutdoors looks good. I like the coffee pot in the heated pit blind!

I like ron ruhr very much, google him, he is going to be subcontracting with guides from the furthest south conservation hunt all the way north I think. He's a good guy and knows a LOT about snows. If you call him you can figure out who he's hunting with in the dakotas.

Prices should run about $135 on the low end, to a max price of about $250/day/hunter. $250 should include great deeks and a good quality blind setup though. possibly food too from what I have seen.

I've been on the cheap end of the spectrum, it's not worth it......... LOL

Sure! More the merry!! Keep in touch and we'll get it set up. Just like the thought of unlimited bag limits for snows. Sure my dog would loooove to retrieve nonstop LOL!

Going to find a place to set up camp. Got all the gear so why not use it! Checked one guide $365.00 a gun for 3 days or $5,000 for the full ride.

N Dakota I think is the most expensive of the conservation states. I don't know why, it's like they have Alaska syndrome. Mound City Missouri gets the highest concentration of snows at any given time I believe and they charge the least. You should have no problem getting a great guide service there for $600 for 3 days total.

S Dakota is a little more affordable I think than North, and Nebraska is even better. If you don't care what state you hit though, I've been to Mound City and can attest for it's awesomeness. We hunt a flock of maybe 100,000 snows here in the puget.... when I was in mound city there was 1.8million on the refuge not 2 miles from where I hunted

Nah really don't care, as long as I can shoot till my heart is content and my dog can't retrieve anymore. Another thought was to find a decent motel with kitchenets in them. Just trying to stay with in a reasonable budget. I got family in Nebraska, Minesota and Montana.

we stayed in Falls City, NE. It was a cool drive through Rulo, population around 40 people I think, and into Mound City, MO. Stay away from the Vision Inn hotel. there is a reason that we nickname it the "bates motel" LOL. I was talking to a guide a couple weeks ago about my last trip and when I told him where we stayed he replied with "oh geez man, I'm sorry...." LOL!!

I think I figured my whole trip, plane, rental car, guides, hotel, and food cost around $1,000 on my last trip, and to spend a little more on a nicer hotel and slightly more expensive guide, I still figured I could have a good trip for about $1100-1200 if 2-4 guys went and split car/hotel costs. If you have a place to stay that helps. At one point plane tix were down to only $190ea, and I have a $75 voucher to use still due to some 'experiences' on my last trip, LOL. Its a really really long story. Maybe i'll tell it if we hunt snows here soon.

Love to hear the story. Yeah figured a $ 2,500 budget. A little extra for buy the family some cool stuff. I figured around 8 guys would keep the trip reasonable for evryone. But there might be more or less guys. Either way should be a blast and know my buddys are most certainly up for it.
