Cabela's is too spendy have to start looking else where.
OK I had a $20 rebate on a $100 order
First the price of the items $
Then shipping $
Then taxes $
Then the rebate ?
Give me the 20 off before shipping and the less taxes I would pay.
I have a drive to go to town and shop but Wally Worlds looking better. I really don't see me going to Cabela's anytime soon. But JC give me the 20 off the items not the total.
OK like I say show me where I'm wrong in thinking this is WTFed up and I'll switch sides.(potato goes in front)

I'm not a big fan of how they charge shipping based on the dollar amount ordered not the product weight. Try buying fly tying supplies that weigh nothing but can cost A LOT, then have to pay a metric f*ck ton on shipping, when a 30lb boat anchor for $9.95 is less to ship than a few bird saddles! Just silly.

:( I have been hearing this from a lot of people. At first they were excited to have a Cabela's coming to Lacey, Wa. Now all I hear is complaining! People are begining to realize that now that their is a Store in Washington they have to pay Sales Tax. Also, that the prices in the store are not going to be the same as they are in the catolog. Than they realize that the store doesn't carry everything that they do in the catolog.
I don't shop at Cabela's! I try to support Local buisness as much as I can. Between Local Buisness and Sportsman's I can find everything I need. Am I saying I will never buy anything from Cabela's? NO, I am just saying that the majority of the time I can find the same exact thing or something very close that will work just as well somewhere else.
I mean just because you buy something at Cabela's it isn't going to make you a better Hunter or Fisherman. :)

I have never travelled to any of the other Cabela's retail locations. Here is what I have noticed thought, about lacey. They carry the clothing items in my size 2X. I cannot usually find 2X at other stores. The store did seem to get blown out at first. They sold a ton of stuff the first couple of weeks. I returned around xmas, and they had restocked a bunch.... Having to pay taxes on stuff off the web sucks, but so does waiting a week to get something. All you whiners who complain about having to pay salestax on a website where they have a foot on the ground in this state...., don't blame Cabelas, blame your lawmakers.

i'm with you michelle, but like iceman said, they carry my size while nobody else does, plus the local businesses don't sell too much in the way of clothing anyway...soooo....cabelas for clothing because they sell xl tall :)
as far as paying tax...oh well whats new...you have to pay tax on pretty much everything you buy. that doesn't bother me, maybe i don't do enough on-line shopping to be used to not paying tax.

Would you feel the same if the store was in Spokane?
I knew the tax as coming when they build a store in state they have no choice but to charge taxes.I will still buy but I'll look good sales what I don't like and I'm to not buy there is the sales tax on shipping and the bonus bucks to be taken off the total. Is that a state Law???
Is there places on the net that don't, like wingsupply or basspro??
Here in Wenatchee all we have is Hooked On Toys their prices were the same as Chabela's so things evened out. I will bet that the same is true but at a higher price. I would think most businesses say out of a 50 mile area would welcome Cabela's.

How to avoid the shipping cost
You order what you want if it's not in the store and have the item shipped directly to the nearest store. Go there when they call and pick up your item. You'll pay tax but no shipping. (that is how the Post Falls store works, so I would think the Lacey store works the same)

I will try that ...

Just wait until our Govenor gets her new law, and we have to pay back taxes on all online purchases for the last 8 years. I don't see that happening, but that is what she is pushing for. It won't be long before we have to pa taxes on all online purchasing. :dunno:
-
If I had to pay all of the back taxes on my online purchases for the last 8 years Id be so F*ucked :o

Me tooooo

I think that would be true with everyone. I don't see how they can impose back sales taxes, but I wouldn't put it past them to make it required to start now. They say all of the internet sales is hurting the states tax base. It's hard to take that serious when you about a surplus.
-
The tax has been set up for paying the taxes if a store is in state for a long time. It was that way many many moons ago, long before the internet (I think).
It's the law and we can live with it. I don't spend a lot of money, it's not like they're going have to lay off a shift if I stopped.
But why the tax on shipping, I'm sure UPS is paying their fare share. (fare share, damn something else to think about)
Does every one do it this way. I just want 20 off the net price not the total. (net price) I'm spelling a bunch or crap wrong aren't I ?
