Had a good hunt this year, couldn't close the distance on the big one that I really wanted but this satellite buck offered me a shot I couldn't refuse. Watched the big guy breed a doe six times while this buck and two other four points milled around waiting for the chance the big guy wasn't going to let them have. Shot him on Thanksgiving day. Also found wolf tracks at 5500'

Great buck, what unit if you don't mind me asking?

215, Sinlahekin. I'm really disappointed to find wolf sign, cougars are out of control there...now add wolves.
-
Thought so, I found wolf track in the snow up there right before thanksgiving this year. Bummer, maybe you were hunting close to where we were.
-
Nice buck . Hate to see those tracks.

Nice archery buck. Congrats! Guess this time I have to be the first to argue on your "wolf" tracks. If that's a wolf, it's a pup. That is an interesting track though. A lot of cat characteristics, yet some K9 also. I'm going to say young cougar. If not, then a large coyote. I've seen quite a few wolf tracks in the county, and they are quite a bit larger in size. A good pic of a wolf track is the one mulehunter posted in the December photo of the month contest. Just my :twocents:

Guess you had to be there. Not a cougar track....I've seen too many of those to make that mistake. Definitely not a coyote either, the pic does it no justice. Keep in mind that the track is nearly a foot deeper than the hand on the snow next to it. You had to be there to appreciate the size of this print.

You're right. Being there is a lot different, and pics do no justice sometimes. Glad you had a good hunt and harvested a nice buck. :)

Nice buck. congrats

-
Nice buck congrats! :)

Nice stick and string buck!
-
Nice Buck you got there:) Congrats!
-
Great buck! Congrats!
-
Nice Sin buck. I seriously hope its a stray dog and not a wolf. If they are wolf, Fitkin can explain them I guess as well. I keep hearing of a pack running the South summit and PolePick, so it very well could be them. I haven't confirmed them yet.

Great archery buck! Way to go!

Great "archery" buck? Great buck period! I'd be happy with the satellites of that satellite.... :chuckle: Nice job. Hope you had a camera on the big guy as well.
-
Nice work- dandy buck!
-
nice work. grats
-
Nice lookin buck! With archery gear as well!! Congratulations!
-
Nice buck bro. As far as the wolf tracks I was there also and have killed many of coyotes. These were no dog nor coyote tracks and there was at least two traveling together.Just the long gate between tracks and the sheer size of the tracks was impressive. I have seen wolf track in Idaho and these were definitely that or theres a great dane running in the middle of the forest at 6500 ft, not likely!

Nice buck!!

Great area... I had no idea wolves were in that valley, though. Times are a-changin'!
