I'd like to put in for archery antelope next year but the regs. say you may only apply for that one licence, but does not specify whether or not you can still hunt the general deer archery seasons. If you draw an antelope permit, can you still hunt general deer archery season?
-
I don't think so. You'd still need to draw a deer combination license. Although it may be possible to buy doe tags over the counter. But that still may require you to draw a deer license first.

So it looks like either buck deer, or buck antelope, I'm leaning towards deer. More likely to find the doe's with the buck deer anyways (when you can get up to five tags in some areas). I'd really like the harvest an antelope, but not at the expense of a buck deer tag. It would be my luck I'd get an antelope tag, then see a huge muley broadside at 20 yards :chuckle:.

State of montana has 5600 across the counter tags available to archery hunters in the last few years. You will need a ALS# from the state and need to put in for the JUNE 1 drawing.....specify the antelope area you want and archery.....it will all make sense when you get a copy of the regs. Antelope drawing is done in JUNE and Deer and elk are Drawn in march the two are not related. Combonation tags are drawn differently. :)Ive hunted montana for 10 years. My party took 3 nice antelope this year and many deer.

So if I understand, I just apply for each species totally separate, so I would still pay the fee for deer and apply by March, then also pay the application fee for antelope and apply by June?
thanks much

Yes March 15 for deer and elk and June 1 for the antelope.
-
D, yeah...you can hunt it all man... just apply separately....

If you draw the deer, elk or antelope general season tags, you then can then buy an archery tag and can then hunt the archery season and then switch to modern rifle season.

isn't archery antelope a guaranteed draw in MT?

How many doe tags can you buy in Mt????

Anytime other than our MT trip this year I'll take you up on that. This year, it's our family vacation also, my wife will be hunting with me and we are hitting Yellystone, etc..

I have heard of MT resident's getting as many as 10-12 or more. As far as I know there is no cap for many units, the only restriction is what unit the unlimited OTC doe tag is used in, mostly for whitetail.
