Ive been thinking of buying a semi auto for daily carry, Ive always carried a revolver and other than .22's have really no knowlege of semi's I want something compact as it will most likely be carried iwb in shorts and a t-shirt in the summer I was thinking along the lines of a sig 230 .380 or something similar any suggestions?

I do not like the ugly suckers BUT must admit, Glocks Work!

I carry a Kahr P9 covert and love it. They are very slim and I forget I'm wearing it most the time. I have an IWB holster for it.

I agree they can take a lickin and keep on tickin and theyre ugly as sin I also think theyre a little thick though the grip for my taste

I would go try out a bunch for fit, get what feels right in your hand. I picked my H&K USP Compact 40 based on feel/fit more than anything.

I don't own any plastic guns. Probably never will.
If I'm not carrying a snubbie revolver, I've got one of my 1911's.
SS Colt Officer's ACP. (45acp) Lookie at my avitar.

When I went to Police shoots at a range the only pistol that didn't have a jam or stove pipe was the Glock. I use the Glock 23 in 40 cal. Small size for carry but fits in the hand nice. ;)

I just chose the Ruger LCR myself, 5 shot revolver in .38 special. However, if I wanted an auto for the exact purpose you describe, it would be between the Ruger LCP and the Kel Tec P3AT recommended by Denali. .380 Auto 6 + 1 capacity, both are under 10oz, just over 5" long, and just over 0.8" thick.
I have carried an AMT backup .380 for about 15 years, and it has served me well - but the above two are better options IMHO. I am very likely to purchase one of the two, in addition to the LCR I just got (and already love, what a great defensive carry gun!!).

I carry a Kel-Tec P11 or a Springfield Armory XD40 Service Model... both great CCWs. Looking to get a Ruger LCR in the future.

XD I really became a believer when I bought one. I like the 1911's and baby eagle is nice too.

I have a EAA Witness 9mm... very similar to the Baby Eagle... excellent shooter!

I carry a Glock 35 40S&W Doubles as Tactical and very accurate

Shorts and a Tshirt. So you will need small. That means Glock, 1911, Springfield are going to be to big or they will print.
The Ruger LCP was mentioned, compact, lightweight. The Ruger LCR is another choice but it is a revolver. Your best choices might be revolvers. Taurus makes some nice small semis like the Millennium Pro, their titanium line.

When I CC, it's single stack.
Kahr makes excelllent lightweight pistols and the narrowest profile available.
9mm,40, and 45acp.
Mine is Kahr PM9,
Don't rule out a snub revolver...SW642 is about perfect.

:yeah:
I have a Taurus 24/7 pro. It's a tad big for the purpose you described probably, but it's a great gun. If you are willing to go with a revolver that may be your best option. You won't ever have to deal with jams/feeding issues and can find some killer deals on some great little guns.

It depends on what your comfortable with, I have used my Glock 21 SF but must admit it's too heavy and bulky for extended carry. I'm thinking about trading in My Ruger Assault rifle for a more compact design like the Springfield EMP 40cal or a colt commander. All the pistols I currently own are all full-size autos and they are just not practical for concealment if I can give you any advice go with the smallest pistol you can find in a caliber that is still adequate for self defense, a .380 in your pocket is still better than a .45 in your dresser drawer.

That's very true. Look at what happened yesterday here in Spokane. I talked to a guy who said his wife was in the car next to the guy that got shot during an attempted car jacking. Guns won't do much good if they're at home. Also agree that you should go and find one that is comfortable to you. Go to a couple different dealers in your area and pick up as many as you can. It doesn't matter what anyone else carries. What we like isn't necessarily what will fit you best. :twocents:
