i have a ripcord and a g5 rest, the g5 requires me to use my finger to hold the arrow on when stalking but my arrows fly great. the ripcord holds my arrow without the finger and the arrows fly good, but the rest froze up once and cost me a cow. which is better? p.s. i was thinking on hunting a little out of a tree stand.

I hunt with a QAD ultra rest its just like the rip cord. I have never had a problem with that rest. I've shot a few elk out of a tree stand with it too.

I am all about the containment for hunting. Tried several rests. Had the qad, but it started sticking just slightly up. Using the trophy taker extreme now, but I don't think I like it. Too much room for the arrow to bounce around in there. Corey showed me the tri van and I think I might give that a try. Looks to be about the best containment rest out right now.

I am also going to go with a Tri-Van for my new 2010 bow. I was at xXxArchery this week and Cory was showing me the Tri-Van ( http://www.midatlanticarchery.com/tri-van-vanishing-archery-rest.php ). The nice thing is that if it doesn't open for whatever reason your arrow will still shoot through. In this case you'll be shooting through a Hostage like rest. BTW, I currently have a QAD Ultra Rest and have never had any issues with it. I just like the idea and design of the Tri-Van.

I've been shooting the original Trophy Taker for years, the prongs aren't deep and there's no containment. I have never had an instance where it got me in trouble. I did own the QAD for a while and it failed to fall a few times, I think I'm more concerned about keeping it simple.

I use the QAD ultra and have had no problems with it either. I really like this rest and played around with it durning the cold weather this past week with no failures. I have had the rip cord and the trophy ridge drop slide on my Reezen before I was completely happy!

I have the Tri-van on my bow and overall I am happy with it. Your arrow (depending on the diameter) can still squeeze through the containment if it gets caught on something while you hunt. It happened to me a couple of times. Not a problem if you notice it prior to drawing back, it's very obvious if it happens.

i guess i will just practice more with the g5, im just worried about pulling the nock off the string from using my finger to hold the arrow on the rest. thanks guys

Only reason your ripcord rest 'froze' up is the part that pinches your string got loose and gave it too much slack. It's happened to me too, but only while target shooting. I make sure it's tight each time I head out.

i used to shoot a biscut but switched to a drop away full containment by trophy taker less friction and a bit faster.

quick tune ftw. kinda like a buscuit but it has 100% vane clearance.

I'm seriously thinking of switching to a whisker biscut. Twice this year I had mere seconds to shoot drew back too quickly and pulled the arrow off of the rest launcher arm.

QAD ultra all the way. No finger to keep it there. Contains while stocking, quiet and perfect shot after shot. Its the only rest Ill ever use. Truly impressed with it.

Tunes easy and you can let down without triggering the rest.
