He was the guy who got super into coyotes last year. He bought an fx3 and put together a skinning hitch for yotes on his SUV. I think he even started doing the skulls. He was on here all the time, I loved his enthusiastic posts.
You all know who I'm talking about? Hope everything is OK. As jacked as he was about coyotes I can't imagine him quitting cold turkey.
-
sounds like you are referring to "ivarhusa"
-
Thats it!! Where'd he go?

Thats crazy.....I was wondering the same thing about a week ago, so I sent him a private message. I haven't heard from him yet. It was strange to see him just up and disappear.
-
Hope he feels better soon, he always had something interesting to say. I was wondering what happened to him too. Prayers sent.
-
I always liked his posts. Hope he gets well soon.
-
adna, do you know how to reach ivar?
-
I have his phone #
I talked to him a while back. He was in pretty rough shape.
Talked to his wife a couple weeks ago. She said he was still pretty rough.
I really don't think it's my place to go into his condition he seems pretty private.
-
If by chance you speak with him- let him know that we wish the best for him and hope he can come back soon.
-
You bet. I'll probably give him a call early next week.

Talked to Ivar tonight.
He is getting better and will be going home soon. He was pleasantly suprised to hear of all the well wishing.
Sounds like he should be back posting on the boards soon.
-
Kinda funny- just wonder what he (Ivar) will think when he sees the title of this thread. :chuckle:

Yep, may have to do a name change... :chuckle:
Adna, thanks for the info. I really enjoy his enthusiasm as he experiments with his new found sport.

 Hope to hear from him soon. Let this be a lesson to you Hosers, if anything happens to you or you get in a bind, let us know. Pretty cool safety net of gentleman and ladies on here willing to help. As simple as shoveling snow to feeding the mules.

Tell him to get better soon. He is on the Newbie team with me and so far only BTKR has put any down. :chuckle:

Guys,
Thanks for for all your well-wishes. I am touched.
Short Version: August 10th I went to hospital for an upper GI exam. A polyp was removed, but in the process some damage was done to my pancreas. It escalated into necrotizing pancreatitis putting me into a world of hurt. Iwas in Virginia Mason Medical Center for over four months.
I just returned home yesterday. I am still very feeble and can barely walk to the bathroom. Hunting is likely many months away.
Long Version: I guess there is not a lot of need for long version, but I will add that I was close to death several times. The process redced my weight from 217 pounds down to 143 pounds. I am now at 152 pounds. Skinny. If I can find it, I'll try to put my old Scout uniform on! Wouldn't that be a hoot.
I am also tied to a feeding tube 16 hours a dat (drip from a pole), further limiting my mobility.
I will resume following interesting threads on this site.
Ivar
(Feeling better but a long way to go.)

Well, I suck at predator hunting, and can never seem to get time off this time of year, so I'll start with "one". I think Team TDF would be happy if I could just put one on the board... :chuckle:

I used to work with Ivar in 2006, he's a great guy!
Best wishes Ivar, I hope you get better soon and I am sorry to hear about your troubles. Hope to hear from you soon.

-
Glad u are on your way to getting back into the woods. Thought and Prayers your way :) :)

Glad you are home and doing better as well. Funny post about the scout uniform. My son is wearing my cubscout uniform (from 30 years ago) these days, he is the only kid in the pack who has a shirt without a collar :chuckle:. He keeps trying to get me to wear my boyscout uniform to a pack meeting. He does not understand that I wore that uniform 17 years and about 40+ pounds ago. I hope I do not have to go through what you did to wear it for him...I would rather just buy a new one when I need it. Hang in there and post that pic if you put on the old uniform ;).
-
Thanks for all your kind words and encouragement. It is going to be a long while before I get back in the field. My rig has been packed for 'yote hunting since this calamity befell me in August. My wife is just now looking at getting the gear back in the house where it is less vulnerable (and gives her more room to put stuff!).
One of my maladies is an open wound (ulcer, bed sore) on my butt, from my earliest stay in a local hospital. It is still healing. Now I can say "I'm bad ass!".
I will be eagerly reading all the posts, and catching up Predator Hunting Talkcast.
Kat, nice to see you on the list. Been hunting coyotes at all?

Glad you are doing better.

Just stumbled onto this thread, sorry to hear of your illness, hope you get well soon. WA has too many coyotes, they need your attention.... :chuckle:
-
Glad to hear you are finally home and doing better Ivar.
-
I also just stumbled onto this thread. I'm sorry to hear of your health troubles, Ivar, but happy to hear you're headed down the comeback trail. Best wishes for continued recovery.

Progress Report
I continue to improve, gradually. I've left the walker behind, and today took a 0.8 mile walk at lunchtime with some co-workers. They are both avid hunters, and we had pleasant conversation. We considered the merits of adding a .25 cal to my arsenal, to complement the .20 (204 Ruger) and .30 (30-06), which constitute my centerfire arsenal.
There wasn't much debate really. You have to add to your arsenal, eh?

Hi Ivar, sorry to hear of your tough times. Glad you are doing better! As far as a new .25 goes, ever think about a .260? I have seen what a .25-06 dose to deer a few times and it is quite devastating! Just a few ideas.

Absolutely. And after a 25 caliber, you need a 24 caliber, and (as stated above) a 26 caliber, and EVERYONE needs a .270, and the Rem .280 is a great round.... Glad to hear you're feeling better Ivar... Talking about buying a new rifle is like starting to notice pretty women again... :chuckle:
