I was wondering if any of you guys were in the Yakima area and have hunted down the river out from Union Gap towards Wapato ? I have wanted to float the river, but unfortunatly I do not have a boat. I have seen areas on the river where honkers have been and the only way I know of to get them is to float the river.
Anyone intersested in hooking up just send me a Pm.
Thanks, Cameron

I haven't.

it's kind of tough to do it right out of the Gap since you have 2 dams virtually back to back. You can float from Parker to Sawyer fairly easy but I've never done it and am not sure what the river is like through there.

Ya I forgot about those 2 damns.. But today when coming back from Tricities, I saw several groups of honkers on the river and several groups of ducks.. Not far out of Union Gap and the water looked to be ok..

There's been a lot of ducks hanging out by the pastures between the Toppenish and Wapato exits on I82. Check out the Sawyer area and see if they're using the river at all.
The geese are just bouncing all over the valley.

Ya the Geese were flying all over Monday eve.. But did I get any ? NO>>>

Do you know how to get into the Sawyer boat launch? Take the Wapato exit and head east on the Old Yak Valley highway past Valicoff fruit. About 1/2 a mile past the fruit warehouses there's a turn. You have to go slow and you'll see a "driveway" that goes past a house along a pasture and under the highway. It'll pop you out on the river there and you can launch a boat or walk in and explore some of the sloughs.
