I am considering purchasing a Winchester model 70 in .243 for my daughter. It is the "Ranger" version. It appears to be a little smaller and lighter than my other model 70's. I think it was made in the 80's, was only fired a few times, and is in like new condition. I have other model 70's, both pre and post 64. I like having all of my actions and safeties the same. Any addtitonal info would be great. Thank you.

if i am not mistaken the rangers were made to be sold through a store maybe sears. i had a 7mm one for alittle while they are just a plain model 70 with blind magazine if i am not mistaken. atleast mine was.

It is the model 70 with a plain, shorter stock, and a shorter barrel. Buy it, you can always upgrade the stock later, and add length if needed.
You will not be sorry.

It sold on an online auction for 355.00. It was like brand new. It didn't have a mark on it. I am sure that I will find another one. I wish i would have won the bid on that one. :(
