I am planing on buying a new caller before next fall and am some what perplexed as to what I want to do.I currently own a foxpro I think the model is 416b? it works good but I really like the remote that comes with the fx5 but I really cany justify the money in the fx5 and dont see the need for 200 sounds. I think I want and fx3 but only if they come with the advanced remote (not sure?) but I am also not against getting a diffrent brand if it came highly recommended. also when I am ready to buy my foxpro will be for sale so anyone intrested in a good enrty level ecaller? So any advice?
-
I like the fx3, I like my scorpian. not much help am i!!LOL
Carl
-
see I really like the scorpian but had a fella tell me I wouldnt be happy with it as the single flat speaker dosent sound as good as the dual cone speakers, any comments?
-
I bought the sp-55 speaker from foxpro, it plugs into the scorpian, that sucker will blow your ears out. Many skilled callers say the scorpian is plenty loud by it self, but it is not as loud as the FX3.
Jerry Malbeck for one.
I think the sp 55 speaker sounds better than the fx3 or 5.

I agree the Minaska seems to be a good unit.

John,
The Foxpro calls are great units. They are everything they say they are.
That being said. I sold my FX3 because I hated the remote. I purchased a Minaska M-1 Bandit. I love the way the remote operates....MUCH FASTER.
The Minaska model I have has only a flat cone speaker. Which I think sounds better than my old call. It also has a aux. speaker jack for running an external horn speaker.
With the Minaska unit you can use any sounds you want. As long as they are in mp3 format. They are also loaded on a compact flash memory card (super easy to load, or move around)
There is an M-1 unit on the Predator Masters classifieds right now for $300
Both units work great. But do yourself a favor and try to listen to a few different calls before commiting to just the Foxpro.
If you have any questions you can shoot me a call anytime.

The fx3 is loud but has the same controller you have now, its what I use. I think fox pro released a new caller with the controller your looking at. I haven't used many other callers so cant help much there.
-
Her is what the M-1 looks like
-
I use M-1 Bandit and keep a 416 in the truck as a backup. I do take the 416 out regularly and it is a nice unit. When my B in L comes out for our week long hunt in Jan he packs the 416 and I carry the M-1. We seem to do as well who ever does the set up. His go to set up back in WI is a Western Rivers wireed caller with a Azden remote and he does well. I think that 90% of how well a call works is the set up.

Had the FX3 and liked it except the remote. The letters were to small and always had to pull out the reading glasses. So I decided to upgrade to the FX5 for the remote and more sounds. Still having some issues with the small lettering but hell I'll get over it and besides that it's still a great caller IMO ;)

The letters were to small and always had to pull out the reading glasses.
:chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: I think that everytime I'm out,If I stick my arm out any farther to read the fine print,I could choke the damn dogs...Actually Ive just about got them memorized
-
Foxpro used to offer a free upgrade to bigger letters, of course not as many sounds can be seen at one time, I think just one. I think a background color change too.
Go to the site.

jdb , the old 416 man i killed alot of dogs with one of those , still one of my favorite callers of all time .
The new Foxpro spitfire has the remote your looking for ( large text size) and is priced at around 200.00 go to
http://www.gofoxpro.com/products/digital_calls/product_spitfire.php
and take a look , that is the only NEW model they are offering with the bigger remote unless you get into a much more expensive model . your right if your a recreational caller you dont need 200 sounds . I call year round and have about 80 on my rigs . The spitfire had a few growing pains ( remote problem in cold weather) but they have it all ironed out now , just talked to Steve Dillon the other day about it . Like others said , if you can get your hands on a few diffrent brands it wouldnt hurt to check them out and see what fits YOUR need best . Good luck , if there is ever anything i can help you with concerning Foxpro , just let me know . jerry .

I have a Fury Really like the Remote. just remember you wont get the quick turnaround time getting the other caller's back as you would a Foxpro. been lucky and have met the Dillon's a few time's good people. as you may know by now Jerry is Field staff for Foxpro. he has been there a long time. if you need to know anything he would have a idea. were lucky to have Jerry here he has a alot of know how on calling critter's. did any one ever know a moses man out of moses lake. wont say were he live's now. that spitfire has the big numbers.
-
The only other high end caller that has not been posted on this thread has been WildLive Technologies.
I hear the company is providing a way for the owner to load your own sounds. So you could buy some cougar sounds form Rainbow and then load them up.
-
is that a new caller. i cant download my cougar sound's going to sell them. i have aol wont go to the Foxpro page. going to use what i have Foxpro sound's. going to start cougar calling tomorrow. are you talking WT caller maybe. Rick
-
Rick , do you need help with loading sounds?? heres my email kmalbeck@eltopia.com
you should have said sompthing along time ago and i would have helped you :bash:. jerry .
-
Yes, WT is allowing one to add sounds to their new call. I think it is called the Atom.
I have read that software will be available to load it on the card that holds all the sounds.
-
Hey Jerry, I have 111 foxpro sounds on my Scorpian.
I got on the puter one day to organize them. I was gonna put all bird sounds together, rabbit, deer etc. I went to work with the instructions in hand.
I now have 111 sounds but it takes 149 spots to put them on! Some are so good they are on there twice.
That is when I gave up.
Does Foxpro still offer a remote up grade for bigger letters on the screen?

it's a ugly looking ecaller. but i hear it is very clear. and we know it has great sound's. jerry i have aol and my computer is messing up. i'm leaving jan 5th for the Predatormaster's Hunt. pam is going to take the computer in while i'm gone. that will help i think. we will see what it doe's when i get back. thank you. Rick

Bill Martz owner of WildLife Technologies is in the process of designing software that will allow a WT user to put more sounds on their SD memory card.
The WT sounds will be protected and cannot be removed from the cards.
Bill expects that the software and process will be complete in about 4 months (April).
The process of putting sounds on your WT card will be handled via a software download from the Internet, and you will NOT need to send anything back to Wildlife Tech.
All of the callers being sold right now and those with SD memory cards will have the ability to have the sounds loaded on the SD card.
If you want to buy a Mighty Atom, there is no need to wait for a “new version” of the caller – the callers will NOT change.
-
Carl , what am i gonna do with you LOL. Some of the remotes are capable of enlarging the text size , just read your owners manual and it will tell you if yours will do it or not .
what you need to do to change sounds is go to the foxpro website and there is a video you can watch that will lead you thru the process . or there is a writen instruction that will do the same. its very easy and shows the diffrent ways to do this for each caller .
-
Rick ,if you ever need help just send a email , jerry .
-
I love my M-1 Bandit :twocents: Mark
-
thank you jerry. all callers mentioned here are the top caller's. Foxpro, Mad minaska and WT. Rick
