I was given a bow on permanent loan and told I could do or change whatever I wanted on it as long as I kept what I took off.
I took the bow in today and had a tune-up (don't know what that entails. . .I forgot to ask because it was free) done and had the draw weight dropped from 75# to a more reasonable (for me) 65#. I know the string was waxed because he did that right in front of me.
I'm replacing the missing peep sight tube as well as the dinged up sight.
What other maintenance should I consider doing? The guy that gave me the bow takes really good care of his stuff. . .so it's in really good shape, but I would like to learn myself. . .unfortunately he has several kids so not a lot of free time to help me out (the last time I shot was ~15 years ago). . .
. . .I plan on replacing most of the allen screws on the bow because some of them have rusty heads. . .that's mainly cosmetic but it's something that will bother me. I am replacing the 2-pc. quiver with a newer one peice that will mount on the new sight becaise the draw weight couldn't be lowered with the 2-pc quiver in place.
Thanks for the help and your time.

It's a bit of a haul from Silverdale, but if you want some personal help bring your bow to the Federal Way Wholesale Sports. Ryan, Dennis, or myself will be happy to help you with anything you need to up date the old bow. For a small fee we will take your bow apart, clean, grease, inspect, and tune. It usually only takes a few hours.

Old Dog thanks for the offer. . .I may take you up on it.
My name is Joel Atteberry. . .it'll probably be sometime next week. . .I'm gonna be heading over to Auburn to pick up an AR15 upper and lower then.
Thanks again!

Old Dog you probably deserve a raise from Wholesale Sports. Sounds like your customer service is second to none.
I have not had much interaction with the Wholesale Sports crew up here in Burlington but I have to say they have the store squared away since it was the other place. Cleaned out a bunch of the junk and put stuff in there that you can actually use in the area.
They let the divisions order for each store? Seems like they got smart and cut out a bunch of the stuff you would use somewhere else.

Yes. . .Old Dog was very thorough going over the two bows!
He took the time to explain some stuff to me and show me how dirty the bow I got was and fix some stuff that the shop here in Silverdale "messed up" or just didn't "fix" when I took it to them.
Now I just have to replace the rest and 2-pc. quiver, pick out a release, and get a release loop installed and I'll be squared away to start practicing.
