how is this for a beginner muzzleloader? anyone have any experience with it?

the only one in that line that is legal is pursuit lt west it has a exposed nipple and uses number 11 only i think it is a decent gun nice fit and feel. but i will only use musket caps and you can not put one in that gun i think bimart sells them or the one around here does.

I Dont think that is legal in Washington, I used to own a Traditions and had bad luck with it so I sold it. I now have a Knight Bighorn and love it! :twocents:

It says it's legal in Northwest states right on the link. It looks as the the side of the breach is open to the elements. But it's just way to spendy for this cowboy. If I wanted to spend that much it'd be a T/C Black Diamond not a traditions. :twocents:

I spent under 500 for a blackdiamond,and all the gear and powder and some powerbelts...Gut did you buy a muzzy yet

Yep, I bought a Wolverine (uglier than shat!). Should be here monday. I've got the ML bug bad. I think I may buy another one or three. :chuckle:

the modle that i said is legal and gutpile it has a hole about the size of a nickel over the top of the nipple but all the other models are not legal all closed and 209 only lt west legal here

I'm just commenting on the particular rifle in that link. Looks like it's a NW edition or something.

o.k. i see what you mean i zoomed in and i saw that same gun but the hole was on the top on the one i saw weird that one shows the hole on the side well that one would be legal then

i looked at the knight bighorn and the t/c blackdiamond and they just dont appeal to my liking, as far as looks go.

Yep, they are ugly. I bought a Blue/synthetic Wolverine and I think it may be the ugliest gun I've ever laid eyes on. May have to camo dip it. :chuckle:

i honestly havent seen a muzzleloader i actually thought was attractive. :yike:
but having an extra 100yards of range over a bow sure is turning me on :drool:. ive passed on many elk due to not being in range, and missed elk that that should have been dead.

i have seen a few nice looking muzzleloaders like the savage smokeless gun they have out now, great wood stock on it. also some nice old white rifles around i now have 2 muzzles a stainless black diamond xr with camo stock and a cva elkhorn 209 mag in blued and camo stock it has a converstion breech plug to shoot musket caps or #11 caps so it is legal here.
i think the pursuit gun would be a good gun for a starter yes is my :twocents:

I wouldn't buy it, but that's me. I am also a little bias. I would recomend you try to find a used T/C Black Diamond, or a Knight Bighorn.

i bought a traditions pursuit on clearance a year and a half ago, and had to trade it to a buddy of mine, to get my black diamond back, what with the move to washington and all. mine had the closed breech and not WA legal. the pursuit comes apart like a single shot shotgun, one screw. easiest to clean of any muzz i've owned, ramrod design sucked- had to unscrew the end, and turn it around then screw it back on to use it, and if you stowed it that way it stuck out 3 inches from the end of the barrel. Accuracy was not great- 3 inch groups with a scope, no matter which bullet. i was hunting florida and missouri, so the scope and 209's were legal. the deer i killed with it was 20yards so the accuracy wasnt a problem. the hammer, trigger, safety and ease of priming were all good. the plastic sights sucked.
