Title: Granite Falls, WA (Mount Loop Highway)
Post by: SURVEYOR on January 08, 2010, 05:40:56 PM: I was wondering if anyone hunted up above Granite Falls this season. I haven't hunted up there a couple years and I was curious how many people were up there. I usually hike in to get away from road hunters, but I'm wondering if this is still an option. Let me know when you get a chance.

Post by: romaknows on January 08, 2010, 05:52:17 PM: most of the prime clear cuts are a long hike in behind the locked gates.Lots of timber to hunt but i have not seen to much as far as deer go.

All of the roads that are open are very thick and lots of traffic with hunters and hikers. If you want to put in the miles on foot you can have some good success. The deer is challenging but the bear hunting is very good.

Post by: fishseeker on January 09, 2010, 06:09:21 PM: Having hunted that area for 40 yrs. I don't even bother anymore. Unless you go to Scotty land all the clear cuts a grown over. No new logging to speak of anymore! No logging, no clear cuts for feed means no deer. Sad as I have fond memories of hunting alot of the areas. :'(

I live North of Granite on the east siade of Jordan Rd. We used to get lots of deer up here, but lately nothing. In August 2004 the weekend after they controlled the jordan wall fire we had a spike,a fork, and 2 3 points in our yard. There has been private logging above us
