Title: Portable bow vise?
Post by: MAVsled on January 17, 2010, 02:19:40 PM: while hunting in OR late season this past year, an OR friend had a mishap with his bow string. It got nicked pretty badly, he thinks it was barb wire fence crossed earlier. We were hunting 200 ac private land, abutting national forest area, belonging to my sister's best friend.
I thought to myself; what the heck was he going to do now on a Sunday night.

he went into his gear box, out came this cable-twist bolt system and he replaced his string within 25 minutes. His back up string was a previous string, all served and peep in place. A few shots into the block target in the headlights and he's good to go for the Mon-Tuesday finish of the hunt.
I'm thinking of ordering one of these devices to take along as a BC archery elk hunt is in place for September 2010.

anyone else had experience using this device?

Post by: huntnphool on January 17, 2010, 07:13:55 PM: Same one I have had in my pack for several years as well. Every time I swap out my string and cable I rotate them with the previous ones, keep them and the bow press in a zip lock at the bottom of my pack just in case.

The split limb adapter works great on my Hoyt, in-fact it works better on my Hoyt than my Mathews because the adapter gets the leverage point out to the limb tips.

Post by: wildmanoutdoors on January 18, 2010, 07:22:59 AM: What about timing? If you change a string cant your timing get thrown off? I know when my timing goes off my arrows fly all over the place. Once I get it timed its dednutz again.
