Title: What is your favorite propellant ?
Post by: superdown on January 17, 2010, 10:06:10 PM: I have just put a T/C omega northwest edition on lay a way. I have been reading about some troubles with pellet style powders and would like to know what you guy's are using?

Post by: Blsum on January 17, 2010, 10:57:57 PM: 777 loose. The 777 pellets are only designed to be used with 209 ignition. I've had some serious issues with them. I use to use pyrodex pellets. They where way easy to load. But 777 loose is way easier to clean up.

Post by: Geno on January 17, 2010, 11:11:25 PM: I shoot a Knight Wolverene .54 cal with musket caps and pyrodex pellets. The only mis-fire I have ever had was when it counted the most this last season. A 25 yard broadside shot at a spike bull elk ruined because I unknowingly loaded the pellets in backwards....yes they can be loaded wrong. One side of the pellet has an ignition powder on it. :bash:

Post by: Wacenturion on January 18, 2010, 09:39:11 AM: Loose Triple 7. Also allows you to fine tune your load in smaller increments vs. larger increases or decreases with pellets. I think it also packs better and you don't loose your perceived powder charge as one could with pellets flaking off. :twocents:

allot of the problems that have come with the pellets is because they were designed to be used with 209 never had a problem with musket caps when i started out using them when i first started muzzleloading you can only use #11 in that gun and #11 and pellets don't mix well had a friend that tried that and had all kinds of hang fires and delayed fires :bdid:

Been really happy with it and it cleans up with water.

Went back to 777 loose and haven't had ANY missfires and I'm using #11 caps. So the answer from me to your question is 777 loose. :IBCOOL:
