Just curious about what you guys would apply for re: elk permits.
-
Ill apply for everything I can.
-
Damn. I setup the poll wrong. I wanted people to be able to vote for multiple choices. Can someone edit it?

:yeah:
I will apply for both bull and cow, as well as cross state. If you have 10 points why wouldn't you apply for both, it won't cost you your bull points anymore, its like 10 years of applying for free.
-
Come on blues elk tag!!!
-
Did I miss where WWa tag holders can now apply east and vice versa? Thats probably what I get for having my head in the puke bucket all this time.

No kidding, most wet side hunters won't apply for those tags though so the odds should go down. :chuckle:
-
by the way, it looks as if your poll is set up right.
-
Yeah it looks like that also part of the change... cross state free for all :whoo:
-
just bull for me i usally hunt a any elk area so unless i draw a bull tag in a better area i will stick around here.
i do archery east side. if i could draw a multi i would hunt west and east.
-
That there is what they call sarcasm. LOL Better clear that by Bobcat though. I think he was mentioning something about odds not changing.
-
Too each his own, he is free to believe whatever he wants.

I'm not sure if they will do that, but if they are going to change the permits based on the WDFW survey, they will likely do that. 65% voted for that option when asked "H. Allowing hunters to apply for elk permits statewide, regardless if their
elk tag is for eastern or western Washington."

I was going to give up on applying for anything because of their new proposal............but if they do this, then I will be applying for E WA while I hunt general season for elk in W WA until I can draw a good bull tag in E WA.

I don't know how odds will change. This is a pretty big change and odds are bound to change, but I don't believe it will be worse odds for every permit. Some will be better, and some worse. We won't know for a couple of years. As for the antlerless permits, yes odds will be terrible for those who haven't been saving up points. There will for sure be a lot of guys with many points who will put in for the antlerless permits. And the guys who have been putting in for them all along and drawing every other year or so, will not be able to compete.
-
Careful, you are starting towards the light. :)

WDFW SUX - Maybe I missed something here. What do you mean??

Just bull for me. I archery hunt, so a cow is fair game in my unit anyway. All this mess means to me is that a gazzilion more people will be puttin' in for the hunt I have building points for since I moved here 9 years ago. :bash:

If this new permit plan goes live it should show everyone why it is important to apply (purchase/spend money) for everything offered.
If you only applied for deer you wouldn't get the bonus points for cow and premium bull hunts. Essentially everyone is getting a ton of "bonus" points.
Guess I better start applying for the cougar permits because they just may move them over to bobcat (after they start charging for a bobcat permit).
