I wanted to post an intro post but could not find an Intro Thread so I made one, hope that is OK.
My son and I are new to hunting. I have not hunted since my teen years a very long time ago! I flushed my first sage grouse in a field in WY and it scared me so much I did not even get a shot off. Few mintues later a flushed about 6 of them and this time was ready and brought down a big fat rooster and I have been hooked ever since but never got the chance to hunt again. How could anyone not want to hunt birds?
Fast forward 30 years now with a 9 year old boy and 10 year old girl. My Son Max has been shooting for a couple years but just at targets. He passed Hunter Saftey at 8 (with flying colors)
Never hunted with a dog in my life but knew I had too. So we started doing our research and I found my dog Pendleton (aka Pen Pen or Pen) Pen was trained by a pro and needed a new home! After looking at a lot of dogs we knew this was the one. Her owner took me and my son hunting with two different dogs he had for sale and he feel in love with Pen and hunting with a pointer!
We joined Cooke Canyon and have hunted there now numerous times but we are looking forward to hunting wild Birds!
My Son Max did shoot his first rooster on our first hunt at Cooke Canyon!
I sell computer systems and I also own my own website for American Made Items called http://www.americansworking.com and we strive to buy Made in the USA whenever we can (we are not perfect however)
So we are looking forward to getting information here and we hope to share some as well as we learn what we are doing.
Other then my son's first rooster one of my proudest moments hunting was getting to walk the field with two wounded warriors from the Iraq war. Cooke Canyon is always doing hunts for the wounded vets at not charge through a program called HAVA. Cooke Canyon let me help guide a hunt for them with my Pen Pen (They know Pen very well which is why they let us) and a pro guide went with as well thank God!
Here is a picture of my first rooster crumpling in the air and Pen already on her way! I'm in awe of my dog and hunting dogs in general. They are special animals that connect us to our history!
So thanks for letting me say hello!

Welcome, and I have to say I really like this part of your post:

I will have to check out your website. I hate that Cabelas and other stores now have China made items for about 90% of their inventory. :bash:
