Did you put in this year??? What unit?? Unit 30 for me and scroder with max points. It sure is bad when you put in for something that has about a 3% draw chance and you still get excited for the draw.
-
I have put in the last two years and have been lucky enough to draw two years in a row, probably just end up with points this year. :P
-
Still building points Jack. We'll let folks burn points for another year or 2 and figure it out...
-
My bags are packed for that unit 113 tag I put on for. This unit will probably have the worst draw odds in the whole state. So I'm not holding my breath.
( put in max points, special draw )
-
113 regular draw, definately not holding my breath.
-
54 speical draw ,I am hoping I draw 3 tags 5 people put in last year.
-
113, i cant wait to archery hunt it all by myself :chuckle:. next year maybe 54/65 ill see what they pull out of there during the archery season.
-
Just startin this year to put in for points... Figured by next year when I graduate I can have 1-2 points saved up in case I get a permanent job in WY.

I am pretty sure that there are no points for residents........better use them while you still have your non-res status!
-
Just doing points again this year.
-
No elk, just antelope for me.
-
Bighorn mountains, type 9 archery license. Going in with 2 points, not holding my breath either.

Well if I get hired to the company I want to, I'll be stationed out of bozemen MT or CO somewhere so it definitely couldn't hurt but Thanks for the advice I'll def keep that in mind! BTW how many points does it usually take to draw an "H" deer tag? Where can I check the draw odds for each region? Thanks!

Use Monster Muleys.....it's got all the states in one place. "H" can be drawn with 0 points, but 1 point will guarantee a tag. You can also use the Special License to further increase your odds. The best country in "H" is in the wilderness, so, if you don't have a resident sponsor, I would go with "G". Same beautiful high country, but you can hunt everywhere. "G" can be drawn with 0 points, but takes 2 points to guarantee a tag if I remember correctly? Either way, they are the best areas IMO to shoot a 180" plus mule deer when you consider that you can literally hunt them every year on the special license. Some guys like to build points, and some guys like to hunt........ :chuckle: I like to hunt.
-
G is 100% with one point on the special draw.
-
Last year my hunting partner and I did not Draw G or H with 1 point. This year going in with 2 maybe we will be a little luckier!
-
Thanks JJ... that special license you refer to is the landowner voucher I assume??? Or am I way off base?

No, 20% of the permits are set aside for special licenses - no difference except that you pay about $200 more. You are essentially paying for better draw odds.
-
Any one know what the elk hunting is like in G?
-
decent but not the best in the state I've seen some dandy bulls in there while hunting though.
-
I think its a general tag.. I looked at it but It still takes points so I passed.

Gotcha, sorry still learning the out of state gig... I'm pretty sure I'm just going to put in for my ID muley resident controlled hunts, as well as some other elk hunts. Definitely gonna put in for a cow tag, I really am enjoying all this meat in the freezer!!!

Put in for unit 31 max points but I do not think I will draw. One of these years I will pull something....
