Who else is going to the RMEF banquet at the Snoqualmie Casino? The banquet is Feb 27th. I went last year and had alot of fun and hope to win a Kimber this year.
-
oh boy...
Here goes again. This was not a pleasant subject last year and I'm gonna bet it won't be again this year...
I got a thing from them saying the banquet will be at the Everett Events Center this year...must be a different chapter I guess.
:peep:
-
Yes, two different chapters. I attend the Everett Events Center one. The other is a bit controversial...
-
I herd the owners of the casino are going to have a booth on local poaching techniques...
-
I personally don't see what the huge controversy is over having it at the Snoqualmie Casino. I saw the threads last year too. I believe it's a non issue. The Snoqualmie tribe has no tribal hunting rights. If they want to hunt they get a license like the rest of us. I will be attending and supporting the RMEF at a great venue.

Thats sorta the issue...ask enforcement about them.

And casino rights?
Just asking.

I love the RMEF but do not agree with them on this issue. Until the laws are fair and are non-disriminatory I will not ever give my money to a tribal run business. It is also not fair that while our economy is very weak right now our government still gives money to the tribes "reparations etc" yet the tribes do not give anything back in return. So until the casinos start paying taxes, I will also not give them my money.
Like someone said this subject was beat to death. Ah what the hell :beatdeadhorse: I think I saw it move.

If I get the info for this event from the RMEF I will be attending as well. I think some of us take this issue a little too far. Alot of people of all different races work at this casino. I think it is a little unfair to boycott them because of the hunting issues. We need to fight those with the governement, not the casino.
-
I won't support the tribes. The RMEF is throwing a large chunk of coin at the tribes to hold this event there, therefore they are supporting the tribes. I'm happy there are other people that work there of other races but the tribe is the one that profits from it....so I won't be there. I do support the RMEF when I can but not this time.
-p.s. I have friends that work at the casino...I'm happy they have a job, but I have never been there and don't plan on going anytime soon.

You want to continue to support them Galpster thats your choice, but like you I have a choice where and to who I donate my money. As long as they are supporting the tribes they will no longer be getting donations from me.
-
I'll be there and I am glad to see the people who donate their time and talent to pull the event off and raise funds for elk habitat. I salute the volunteers!

I have been a member of that chapter for a very very long time, and their committee members are some of the nicest people I know, but there is no way I can support them having this event at a Tribal interest. There's no need to go into all of the reasons why not to support this, but just knowing that if I went, my money would be funneled into the re-election campaings of those who are in direct opposition to my interests... is more than enough reason.
Those of you trying to justify/rationalize supporting the event at a Tribal interest? Ask yourself this, Does it justify selling drugs to children, as long as you give the money to charity?
I'm sad that I cannot be apart of that group anymore.

WOW, How can you compare the two? I just do not understand this blatant racism. Why are so many of the members on this site up in arms over a casino or and indians? Our governemnt agreed to the tready terms when we took their land. We all need to remember that. WE TOOK THEIR LAND!!
I do not like their hunting practices either but that is a battle at the government level. I can also understand you boycotting any establishment that will give them moneys but to compare it to drugs to our children. Now I think that is a little far. I will be right next to you trying to stop the hunting practices but I will not hate them. Hate breeds hate and I will not be apart of that!
-
I don't hate native americans. I hate their hunting and fishing practices and their lack of self imposed regulations, therefore I won't help them by throwing money at them. I don't go to indian casinos either.
I have several friends back home in upstate NY that are oneida iroquois indians. they've been friends of mine all my life.

Well, this really sucks. I live in snoqualmie and have talked to plenty of people around here that a lot to do with the elk. I was told the tribe will have will be hunting these elk in 2 years. They had a 3 year grace period before they could start hunting them. I have already seen truck loads of tribe headed up to hancock. My guess is is that they are already hunting them. What a waste. With all the poaching that goes on around here and now the tribe, say good bye to the elk. RMEF will never get a penny from me.
-
I've personally turned in Snoqualmie Band / Tribal members for poaching on two seperate occasions.
They have been poaching deer and elk for years in the tree farm. There have been dozens of investigations and convictions of tribal members in the last ten years. This is a no brainer for me.
The fact that the employees of the casino are not members has no effect on me. The revenue generated from the casino goes to pay for rifles, bullets and gas so members can keep poaching. I wont be a part of it.
Have fun guys.
On a seperate issue I hear there not making the payments on the 330 million dollars they borrowed for the casino. You might want to make sure there games are on the up and up if you play... :chuckle:
