Title: need gunsmith
Post by: cully on February 18, 2010, 08:59:52 AM
Hey guys, looking for someone to help me out here. Have a new 870 tactical 12 gauge, want to tap to accept the rem chokes. I'm in the tri-cities, anyone close by that can do the work?

There is a guy in West Richland who runs a dual purpose shop (motorcycles and guns I believe).  I am drawing a blank on the name right now but I think I originally got his number from columbia gun rack.

Not to jack the thread but is a new 870 really not tapped for chokes? If so I assume it's because it's a tactical? I thought they all were tapped these days.

Motorcycles and guns huh thats one hell of a combo! I wonder how much chopper work gets billed out for other machining work?

based on the availability of 870's - it might be cheaper to buy another barrel that does accept chokes.  Just my  :twocents:

Found some guys online that do it for around $100. Barrels are more than that, and I'm not sure there are any 18" that accept rem chokes. I thought maybe the breachers but haven't looked at them closely. I just wanted to pay someone locally, but doesn't seem to be any smiths around here that do machine work.  :dunno:
