Title: BLR?
Post by: jdb on February 22, 2010, 05:19:13 PM: I hung out with a friend this weekend I hadnt seen in awhile and he showed me his browning blr stainless take down, what a SWEET rifle! I ve never really givin them much thought but now I think I really want one. Any opinions? I really want to hear the good and the bad on this one so keep the comments coming!

It has killed deer from 15 ft. - 300+ yards. It is light, quick handling, and fast shooting. A few years ago, I finally broke down and completely refinished mine (what a freakin job that was). It will be in the family long after I am gone. If you like accurate rifles, want a lever gun, get one, you will not regret it. I would get another, but they are priced out of my budget anymore.

Post by: grousetracker on February 22, 2010, 05:47:00 PM: if you want a lever gun the blr is the only way to go, plus its available in a ton of calibers. they are spendy though, ive owned 3 or 4 of them and had some clip problems but nothing major. goodluck and enjoy it!

Post by: Karl Blanchard on February 22, 2010, 09:03:41 PM: it is a scientific fact that lever actions kill animals better than bolt actions! :chuckle: I've had mine for 9 years now. Light, accurate, and as dependable as a bolt action. I have three clips for it and one of them is a little sloppy so if you try to half a@# your lever cycle it won't grab a new cartridge so I just use that clip when I go shooting and the other two for hunting.

yep, it's a browning, it's gonna be a little pricey. wish marlin would come out with a lever gun chambered in common high powered cartridges(like 308 etc) instead of going the winchester route and making up goofy proprietary chamberings like the .308MX.
